Leeds City & District Canine Association

Breed: German Wirehaired Pointer

Thank you to the Committee of Leeds Championship Show for this invitation. I had an excellent entry in terms of numbers and quality. The break in the recent heatwave made it much more comfortable for both dogs and exhibitors alike.

Elbow tight to brisket. Well ribbed back. Level topline. Well made hindquarters. Good bone and feet. Correct coat texture. Movement a klittle close going away but excellent open side gait when viewed in profile

2nd: THORNTON Mr M W & Mrs E M V Bareve Bat Out Of Hell. Just over 12 months. Well balanced all through - just a fraction shorter in body that winner. Skull and muzzle of equal length. Well laid shoulder and equal length of upper arm. Elbows little loose at the moment but this will improve as he drops in chest. Not quite as coordinated on the move as the winner.

1st: LOVATT Mr P M & Mrs D A Beechillawn Im Free With Shirostar (IKC) Good overall balance. A little strong in skull for my preference. Clean neck. Would like a little more angulation in the forequarters. Deep brisket. Well ribbed back. Strong hindquarters with well let down hocks. Well boned. Moved accurately fore and aft. Would like more length of stride in profile.

1st: PINKERTON Miss S Bareve Bronwren. Well balanced all through. Excellent head with dark eye. Clean neck leading through to well laid shoulder and upper arm of equal length. Good depth of brisket. Well ribbed back. Strong hind quarters with well let down hocks. Excellent bone. Needs to tighten in front movement but excellent side gait. Super coat texture. A real show girl whose tail didn’t stop wagging throughout. BP

2nd: FOSTER Mr & Mrs R & H Wassetwire Caerphilly. At just 6 months she was giving away a lot in age but I loved her. Well balanced all through with excellent outline. Super head and expression. Clean neck with well laid shoulder. Correct topline. Well made hindquarters. Plenty of bone and compact feet. Good coat texture. Not quite the driving movement of the winner but this will come with confidence.

3rd: LOVATT Mr P M & Mrs D A Beechillawn Amarillo Starlight Of Shirostar (IKC)

1st: MCCULLOUGH Mr P F & Mrs M Kimmax Koz I Kan. Excellent overall balance. Correct head proportions with skull and muzzle of equal length and moderate stop. I would prefer a slightly darker eye. Excels in her forehand construction with shoulder blade and upper arm of equal length and elbows close to the body. Well ribbed back. Short loin. Her hindquarters are well muscled - not quite the strength of the open winner. Excellent bone and feet. Super coat texture. Moved well fore and aft and in profile. RBB

1st: COOKE Mrs A Tynsil Tennyson. Two year old bitch. Well balanced but not making the most of herself on the stack. Pleasing head of correct proportions and kind expression. Clean neck leading to strong forequarters. Chest of correct depth and width and well ribbed back. Strong hindquarters with good width of second thigh. Moved steadily. Coat texture could be a little harsher.

1st: PINKERTON Miss S Bareve Bruevinka. Beautifully balanced all through. Excellent head with skull and muzzle of equal length, very soft expression and correct earset. Clean neck leading to excellent lay of shoulder and correctly angulated upper arm. Elbows close to the body with chest of correct width and depth. Well ribbed back. Strong topline leading to well muscled hindquarters with good width of second thigh and well let down hocks. Good bone with strong compact well padded feet. Excellent coat texture with harsh outer coat and dense undercoat. Move accurately both fore and aft and showed excellent ground covering length of stride when viewed in profile. BB, BOB and delighted that she was later runner up in the Gundog Group.
