Three Counties Agricultural Society

Breed: Irish Wolfhound

Three Counties Championship Show 9th June 2018

Irish Wolfhounds

A numerically pleasing entry of varied type was presented on the day & I was looking for a Hound with the type and conformation as required but also one who looked as if it could do the job it was originally bred to do. Movement on the whole was good, as was most dentition, coats on the whole were good, as were heads, and temperaments were sound but feet and muscle tone could have been better on a few of the Hounds presented.

PD (4,0abs)

1st Dawsons – Austonley’s Falcon Of Shalico; Balanced youngster at his first show with good head & ears, lovely length & breadth of neck flowing into a well laid shoulder. Good length & depth of body, well ribbed back with slight rise over loin flowing into sufficiently angled rear quarters. Standing on good feet he moved out well.

2nd Sumners – Dukesarum Yohji; Slightly rangier lad with a good head & length of neck, just feel he needs to drop into his front a little more. Has the length and depth of body with a gentle tuck up, nice angle over the croup into well angled rear quarters.

3rd Vaudin – Hollyhenge Caruso Of Torteval

JD (5,0abs)

1st Sumners – Dukesarum Giacomo; Overall not the easiest class for type & movement, this youngster had a nice head set on a good length neck with breadth but slightly flat ears. Well laid shoulder and return of upper arm, body of good length with depth & well ribbed back, curvy tuck up and slight rise over the loin. Good croup and nice angles to the rear with width across the stifles, nicely conditioned and moved out well. RDCC

2nd Gregory – Barrassy’s Shooting Star At Killoughery; Good head & ears on this lad, neck of good length & breadth into nicely laid shoulders. He has the length and depth of body with tuck up but topline needs to strengthen a wee bit more. Sufficiently angled in the rear quarters and moved out OK.

3rd Das Purkayastha – Ballyphelan Asansol Among Neckrebagh

PGD (5, 1abs)

1st Webb – Goldswift Mission Possible For Inkleyboys; Good head & ears into a neck of good length with breadth all flowing into a nicely laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Sufficient length of body and ribbing with good depth and gently sloping tuck up, sloping croup but felt that the sweep of rear angulation could have been a touch better as could the feet.

2nd Littlefair – Goldswift Phoenix Kiss; Would prefer a slightly better top skull, good in length & breadth of neck into a nicely laid shoulder & return of upper arm but elbows could be set a little better. Pleasing length and depth of body & nicely ribbed back, gentle curve to tuck up & sufficiently angled rear quarters.

3rd Dunwell – Goldswift Spartan’s Secret

LD (5, 2 abs)

1st Heather – Ravensbeech Revenio Whiteorchard; Lovely balanced picture of flowing lines starting at a good head, jaw & expression, super length & breadth to his neck flowing into a correctly laid front. Lovely length of body with good depth & well ribbed back and curvy tuck up. Gentle angle over the croup into well angled rear quarters with good width across the rear and the stifles. Moved out well using himself correctly and covering the ground & giving the picture of a hound that could do the job he was bred for. DCC & BOB

2nd Sumner – Dukesarum Attacus; Very slightly different in type to 1st, just preferred the head & expression of 1st dog & the overall picture of length & depth. A good neck for length & breadth flowing into a well laid shoulder and nice return of upper arm. Body of length and depth with good ribbing but would prefer a touch more width throughout, gentle tuck up, a slight rise over the loin and curvy rear quarters.

3rd Das Purkayastha – Ravensbeech Romanus Among Neckrebagh

PB (7,0abs)

1st Sumner – Dukesarum Lilybet; Lovely class of babies at various ages with this young lady taking my eye today. Really liked her overall make and shape giving a balanced picture with good angulation front and rear. Good in head, neck with breadth and length and lovely length and depth of body. Well ribbed back with curvy tuck up, nice angle to croup and good width across the stifles, she moved out well to take this class and BPIB.

2nd Moorhouse – Austonley’s Epic Miss Take; A slightly rangier bitch throughout with good overall lines from her good head, through her neck of good length & sufficient breadth. Good angulation front and rear, lovely length and depth of body for age, nicely set croup and flowing into good turn of stifles with sufficient width across.

3rd Dawson – Austonley’s Fortune Of Shalico

JB (4, 1abs)

1st Sumner – Dukesarum Chiara; Good in head and jaw, very slightly flat in ears. Lovely length of neck with breadth flowing into a good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Curvy underline, well ribbed back with a body of good length, slight rise over a firm loin, lovely width across the rear, correct rear angulation with width across the stifle. Moved out well and in the challenge pulled out all the stops for the RBCC

2nd Fox – Nebraska Ionmhain Norman At Newdigate (imp); Good in head, expression and ears, correct length of neck of strength and breadth, good lay of shoulder but just needs to drop into her frame and fill in front. Good length of body and well ribbed back with sufficient depth and curvy underline. Slight rise over the loin, nicely angled rear quarters with width across.

3rd Ashton – Bonnies Sonas Of Madalinca

PGB (9,1abs)

1st Heather – Whiteorchard Nebula; This bitch headed a nice class, loved her head & expression, good neck of length and breadth all flowing into a super well laid shoulder with good return of upper arm. Well ribbed back, a body of lovely length and depth with a good underline and firm loin. Slight rise over the loin, good angle to croup and lovely width across the rear. Correctly angled rear quarters with width across the stifles, moved out with purpose and a good stride which I felt she could keep up if required. Couldn’t deny her in the challenge, BCC.

2nd Harmer – Comedias All About Hope For Ballanroo (Imp); Good head and ears on this youngster, just felt that she needed to strengthen up a touch more in neck and body. Lovely length to her neck into a well laid shoulder with a good return of upper arm. Well ribbed back with a body of good length and depth and a curvy underline. Nice length of loin, curvy rear quarters with width across the stifles and steady on the move.

3rd Porter – Lindall Passion.

LB (4,2abs)

1st Bradley & Mullins- Glengail Gglenys; Felt that this bitch moved out quite well here with a good head and ear into a neck of good length and breadth. Well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm but just felt that she needed a touch more fill in front. Good for body length and ribbing, sufficient depth and curvy underline. Very slight rise over a firm loin, curvy rear quarters and nice width across the stifles.

2nd Ashton – Bribiba Cuan Ghra Of Madalinca; Nice head on this bitch with a good ear, neck of sufficient length and breadth but would prefer a slightly better flow into her shoulders. Body of good length and well ribbed back, good for depth and gentle tuck up into firm loin. Sufficient in rear angulation with width across, not quite moving out as freely as 1st here.

OB (5,2abs)

1st Heather – Ch. Whiteorchard Venusta; Lovely overall lines to this bitch, good in head, jaw & ears, neck of good length and breadth flowing into a well laid shoulder and a good return of upper arm. A body of good length and depth with fill and well ribbed back with firm loin. Good underline with curvy rear quarters, a good width across the stifles and well let down hocks. Moved out well but in the challenge I just felt that the younger bitches pushed that wee bit harder today.

2nd Sumner – Ch. Dukesarum Scout; Slightly different type to 1st , good in head, jaws and ear shape into a neck of good length with breadth and strength. Well laid shoulder & good return of upper arm, back of good length and nice length of ribbing, good depth of body. Nice firm loin, slight rise over the loin flowing into curvy rear quarters with width across the stifles. Moved out well.
