Eastern Counties Golden Retriever Club

Breed: Retriever (Golden)

Thank you to the Eastern Counties GRC for inviting me to judge the Special Award classes and thank you to the exhibitors for allowing me the priviledge of judging such lovely dogs.

Special Award Puppy (17, 8 abs)

1st Barnes Millgreen Miss Behavin Loved the outline on this quality mid gold puppy, she is quite mature in body for her age but so balanced.  Lovely balanced head, with good proportions and a kind biddable expression, excellent pigment. Good length of neck, correct front construction, deep ribs, superb level topline, well developed quarters and in such super coat and condition.  Super on the move with such excellent reach and drive with tail carried level.

2nd Hawtree’s Bremalyn Doris Day Another quality puppy of different type to the winner, lovely feminine head with good proportions, super pigment and kind expression, lovely reach of neck with good lay of shoulder, level topline, well developed quarters, in good coat and condition, moved really well just preferred the reach and drive of the winner.

Special Award Open (12, 2abs)

1st Hill & Smith’s Sh Ch Megarvey Once Upon a Time JW When this gold bitch entered the ring I just thought she was stunning, her head for me was just beautiful, correct proportions, kind biddable expression and excellent pigment, a complete picture of balance and symmetry both standing and on the move.  Excellent front construction with shoulder blade and upper arm of equal length, elbows tight to her body, good depth and spring to rib, super topline and tailset, well developed quarters. She was  in such fabulous coat and condition, a priviledge to judge such a lovely example of this wonderful breed.  Powerful on the move with good reach and drive.

2nd Baker & Baker-Phipps’ Maddouse Top Hat When this lovely young dog pulls it together he looks a picture standing but does tend to lose his concentration, he has a lovely head with the kindest of expression, well angulated front, good depth to ribs, super topline and tailset, well developed quarters and good muscletone, maturing on the right lines and where he sometimes lost concentration standing, on the move he was lovely to watch, really powerful driving movement with good extension which secured him his place in the super class.
