Bath Canine Society

Breed: German Wirehaired Pointer

I would like to thank everyone who entered under me for my first CC appointment in the breed I was honoured to receive such a fabulous entry and only one absentee. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the exhibits especially in the bitches. It is so nice to see the breed has brought the size of the bitches back down to where it should be. My bitch line-up was so lovely the top honours were a difficult choice. We were very lucky that the rain subsided and to have such a flat ground that really showed off the dog’s true movement.

Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)

1st Evans and Morris’ Bareve Brynderi. 7mth old L&W, he was a true baby exactly as they should be at this age. Excellent coat with a lovely dark liver colour. Lovely head and expression with good furnishings. Excellent length of neck. Good depth of chest. Correct bone for his size and age. He held his topline on the move and although still a baby he was lovely to watch around the ring. BPD and BP

Puppy Dog (1,0)

1st Craig’s Germanus Akelaegermaster For Klancraig. 11mth old L&W, he just wasn’t in the mood for showing today and gave his handler a hard time. Lovely balanced head and expression. Excellent length of neck into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest. Good coat. Excellent bone and feet. Would prefer a little more width of second thigh. Nice sloping topline which he held on the move. Moved ok.

Junior Dog (1,0)

1st Donnelly’s Kimmax Knock Yourself Out. 12mth old L&W. For me this boy was a typical junior male, still needs to settle into himself. Excellent head with a lovely gentle expression, eyes still yet to darken. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Correct length to height ratio. Good depth of chest and forechest. Excellent topline and tailset. Sufficient turn of stifle and hocks well let down. Moved well but not yet together would like to see him when he is mature.

Post Graduate Dog (0,0)

Limit Dog (3,0) Three very different males in this class.

1st Pinkerton’s Bareve Boschkloof. 21mth old B&W. Lovely head and expression and good dark eye as you would expect from a B&W. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, would prefer slightly longer upper arm. Excellent hash coat. Correct length to height ratio. Strong loin. Well-muscled throughout. Excellent topline and tailset which he held well on the move. Loved his rear angles which he used to move with drive to win him the class.

2nd Wigfield’s Mustwork Quinto. 3yr old L&W. Loved his masculine head and he had a beautiful dark eye which added to his expression. Superb harsh coat. Excellent length of neck and good front angulation. Would prefer slightly more length to his body. His rear angulation was good but not that of 1. Excellent topline and tailset. He moved well but was quite unsettled today.

3rd Kearns’ & Thomas’ Germanus Gnarrenburg.

Open Dog (4,0) What a lovely class of males

1st Geary & Hoyle’s Germanus Black N Gold. 3yr old B&W. He has a superb head with a dark eye that adds to his gentle expression. Excellent length of neck into very well laid shoulders. Excellent depth of chest and good tuck up to loin. Lovely harsh coat. Correct length to height. Excellent bone and feet. This dog was the best muscled dog on the day and he used this to drive around the ring. If I am being picky I would like a little more turn of stifle but he is not overdone in anyway. Pleased to award him the CC and to find out it was his 3rd.

2nd McCullough’s Sh Ch Kimmax Curious George. 2yr old L&W. It was a hard decision between 1 & 2 and I am sure they exchange places. He has a lovely balanced head but would prefer a darker eye. Good length of neck into excellent shoulders. Excellent depth of chest and brisket. Loved his rear angulation and hocks well let down. He moved with drive. On the stand he has an excellent topline but he seemed to be dropping it a little on the move today. RCC

3rd Johnston and Johnston’s NL Ch Lux Ch Bel Ch Sh Ch Charmer Vd Tuindershof With Glenquin (Imp).

Special Beginners Dog or Bitch (2,0)

1st Dooner’s Tynsil Vera. 3yr old L&W bitch. Loved her overall type and size, very old fashioned. Such a pretty feminine head. Excellent length of neck that flowed into a well angled front. Good depth of chest and brisket. Harsh wire coat. Excellent topline which she held on the move and correct tailset. She had very well angled rear and well let down hocks which she used to move well around the ring. Very sound. So pleased to see her get shortlisted in the Special Beginners Group.

2nd Jones’ Dregheda Desert Song. 18mth old L&W bitch. She has a pretty head and gentle expression. Good length of neck and well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest. Excellent bone and feet. Preferred the overall balance and a rear of 1. She was carrying a little too much weight which spoilt her topline on the move.

Minor Puppy Bitch (1,0)

1st Lovall’s Beechillawn Amarillo Starlight of Shirostar. 7mth old L&W. This girl surprised me, when I saw her walk into the ring she seemed quite unbalanced but when she stood and moved that wasn’t the case at all. Still a baby and wouldn’t want her any bigger. Lovely head with gentle expression, her eyes still need to darken. Good coat. Well off for bone and has good feet. Excellent topline and tailset which she held so well on the move. Excellent rear angles. For a baby she moved very soundly. BPB

Puppy Bitch (1,0)

1st Geary’s Germanus Arianaegermaster. 11mth old L&W. She is a super pretty girl with the gentlest of expressions. Excellent length of neck into well placed shoulders, would prefer a little more length of upper arm. Excellent harsh coat. Good bone for her size which I loved. She still needs to drop into her chest but that will come with age. Correct length to height ratio. Excellent rear angulation and well let down hocks. She moved very well.

Junior Bitch (3,1)

1st McCullough’s Kimmax Koz I Kan. My notes say wow! This young bitch was just what I was looking for. She is so balanced throughout. Beautiful feminine head and gentle expression but had a naughty glint that I loved. Excellent length of neck into superb front angulation. Excellent depth of chest and also the correct brisket. Correct length to height ratio. Lovely topline and tailset. Excellent rear angulation to match her front which she used to effortlessly move around the ring with drive. So sound. I was then looking for something to beat her but nothing did. Pleased to award her the CC and BOB, this was her 2nd and I am sure the 3rd will not be far behind. I also found out that my DCC winner was her father.

2nd Jones’ Dregheda Desert Song.

Novice Bitch (2,0)

1st Stratford’s Bareve Babulayah. 2yr old L&W. Pretty bitch with a cheeky eye, in fact on the picture I took she is staring straight at me – made me smile! Very balanced. She had the best of coats and furnishings. Excellent length of neck with good depth of chest and adequate brisket. Lovely topline and tailset. Well-muscled rear with a good turn of stifle and hocks well let down. Moved with ease around the ring with power and drive. Considered her for top honours.

2nd Moore’s Tickencote Side of Angels. Pretty solid liver, with a super quality dark liver coat. Not quite as balanced as 1. Good length of neck and ok shoulders. Excellent topline and tailset but would prefer a little more length and she was slightly down on her pasterns. Moved well.

Post Graduate Bitch (4,0)

1st Johnston and Johnston’s Canis Fortuna Harda. 20mth old L&W. Loved her size and balance but she had left her coat at home today unfortunately. She had a cheeky character that I loved. Very pretty feminine head with dark eye. Excellent length of neck into well laid shoulders. Good length to height ratio. Excellent rear angulation and well-muscled throughout. She moved very well and true with drive.

2nd Howards’s Tickencote Fight’t Moonlight. 20mth old L&W. She was balanced throughout but I preferred the head of 1. Excellent length of neck into well laid back shoulders. Bone in proportion with her size but she was a little down on her pasterns today. Good depth of chest and tucked up loins. She had a harsh coat. Good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Lovely topline and tailset that she held well on the move. She moved with drive.

3rd Caffel & Kavanagh’s Hushwing Louboutin To Doberway

Limit Bitch (4,0)

1st Pinkerton & Brewer’s Bareve Bruevinka. 2.5yr old L&W. Loved her overall type and size. She had the prettiest of heads with a lovely dark eye. Adequate length of neck into very well placed shoulders. She had the right amount of brisket which was complimented by her depth of chest. Excellent harsh coat. Enough bone for her size and excellent feet. Excellent topline and tailset. Good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. She moved with ease around the ring. Considered her for top honours.

2nd Dooner’s Tynsil Vera. A shame she came up against 1 as she is a lovely girl.

3rd Evans & Morris’s Bareve Boken

Open Bitch (3,0)

1st Craig’s Klancraig Making A Komeback. 6yr old L&W. Loved her overall type. Her coat was so harsh and dark. She had a very pretty head and a lovely dark eye. Excellent length of neck into clean well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest and good bone for her size. Excellent rear angulation and she moved with drive a purpose.

2nd Pinkerton’s Sh Ch Esmee Dragon From Rhona’s Home and Bareve (IMP). 3yr old L&W. Again loved her size and overall balance. Super pretty head with kind dark eye. Correct length to height ratio just preferred the front assembly of 1. Her coat is harsh but also very thick. Excellent topline and tailset and she carried her full tail beautifully on the move. She moved well with drive.
