West Midland Terrier Club Open Show

11th February 2017

Judge: Rob Jones (Silverluka)

First of all thank you to all exhibitors turning out on a snowy winters morning.

I thought the quality of entries was high in all classes. I was happy with my BOB in Open but other classes the placing was difficult. Construction was decent in all exhibits and mouths too were good although there were a couple of imperfections but none could be described as ‘bad’ mouths.

There were no Irish or Irish type coated dogs today. I prefer to see Heavy-Coated dogs with a curl as the breed standard indicates. Some were there or thereabouts but generally most lacked this and a few coats could be described as bland, with due thought given to the younger dogs which need time for their coat’s to develop.

Very pleased to see my BOB placed 4th Best In Show

Puppy:

1st: Williams’: Evesdale Rio Ria (B)

Youngest exhibit at the show today at 6 months and one day. A well-constructed baby with a nice feminine head and expression. Nice clean bite. Her body looked all in proportion and nothing struck me as out of place. As to be expected at such a tender age a little ring-shy but the Poppet did her best in a rather echoing ringside noise. (BP)

2nd: Boast’s: Kaliclan Long May You Run (D)

Another 6 months baby. A step up in size to 1st with many nice features. Strong male head with a sound bite. Again well constructed and moved well for his age.

PG

1st: Clarkes’ Flaxela Weaver of Dreams JW (B)

Sound bitch of a nice size with a good bite. Level topline and deep chest. Decent bend of stifle. Moved out well. Lovely coat texture but at just 15 months needs time to develop. RBOB

2nd: Tilleys’ Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star At Starzak (D)

A handsome, standard sized dog similar age as 1st. Straight front, level topline, good angles, very nice coat, moved well. Best dog on the day. I’ll watch his progress with interest.

Open

1st CH Garsayno Gold Gemma

Stood out in a strong class. Correct in all departments complimented with a stunning coat both in texture and curl. Judged her before she got her first CC and never doubted she could go all the way in the tough bitch classes at champ shows. Moved faultlessly BOB 4th BIS

2nd: Clarkes’ Flaxela Weaver of Dreams JW (B)

3rd: Emalot Santa Maria
