Perthshire Canine Club Open Show - 13 May 2017

My sincere thanks to the Perthshire Canine Club for the invitation to judge the Utility breeds and group at their open show, it was a real honour and I was delighted with the quality of the entrants. The show had a lovely atmosphere and I wish to thank the exhibitors for supporting my appointment.

Akita Open (3,1)

1st Parkinson’s Blaze of Dangerzone at Kaydanmy (Imp) CJW16. Almost 2.5yr old male presented in excellent condition. A strong dog of good substance with correct bone. Masculine typy head of good proportions, correct dentition and neat ears, dark eye though shape could be better. Tail correctly set and well held. Powered around the ring maintaining a level topline BOB.

2nd Crawford’s Louiston Hurricane Abby

Japanese Shiba Inu Open (6,2)

1st Black & Black-Bunce’s Casakura Harly Hermitage For Zaandam. Promising 8 month old dog presenting a pleasing outline. Up to size with good bone and balanced proportions overall. Attractive head of good balance, with well developed cheeks, correct dentition, good eye obliquely set and neat ears carried forward. Moved straight to and fro with excellent sidegait. Presented in excellent condition and handled to advantage. BOB

1st Kemp’s Sifrason Octavious Avec Zaylon. Well constructed, balanced 20 month old dog. Typical head with good muzzle proportions and correct reverse scissor bite. Strong neck into well laid shoulders. Well bodied holding topline on the move, although could have moved with a bit more purpose, but scored in maturity and overall finish.

Lhasa Apso Open (3,1)

1st Seal’s Lhasenna Jomo. This not quite 3yr old bitch took my eye from the moment she entered the ring. She is well balanced and has a feminine head of correct proportions with dark eye and correct dentition. Well bodied she has a well arched neck, good lay of shoulder and ample rib. She carried herself assertively, maintaining her topline as she moved effortlessly around the ring with the required jaunty action. Beautifully presented in firm condition and handled to advantage. 2nd Caswell’s Moonlight Over Farrenmills

Tibetan Spaniel Junior (5,0)

1st Campbell’s Tulibell at Hogwarts. A pretty 11 month old bitch presenting a balanced outline. Feminine head of good proportions with lovely dark eye and adequate cushioning carried proudly upon a short strong neck. She is a lovely shape, with good leg length and excellent feet. Presented in good coat, she really moved out well in this class with a positive balanced stride.

Tibetan Spaniel Graduate (6,3)

1st Cooper & O’Brien’s Susu Princess Spice Parti. After her warm-up in Junior this 17month old bitch really came into her own. She is well balanced and has an expressive pretty head with good eye and neat well set ears. The best mover in this class, she covered the ground positively with ease. An attentive show girl she was well handled and presented by her young mistress.

Tibetan Spaniel Open (7, 4)

1st Johnstone’s Balgay Ja Rmang Iam Au Tuyet. At almost 4-years-old this dog presents a pleasing outline with good overall balance. He has a masculine head, without coarseness, dark expressive eyes and neat ears though could be higher set. He was positive going round and away, and held his tail well. Presented in good coat and condition. BOB

1st Kemp’s Catrelma Voltaire Avec Zaylon. 18 month old brindle male with short strong, compact body. Typical head of good proportions, with well defined muzzle and good under jaw. Moved out freely.

French Bulldog Open (1,0)

1st Tullis’ Titantails Boardwalk Bulet. 15 month old fawn dog, of good breed type. Short cobby body with good bone for size. Balanced, proportionate head with good ears and correct eye. He covered the ground freely and with ease to take BOB.

Miniature Schnauzer Graduate (5,3)

1st Flynn’s Rynuan Best Mate. A stylish 14month old pepper & salt male who commands your attention and has a real keenness. Presenting a good outline with balanced proportions, he has good reach of neck, firm body and was presented in immaculate condition. He has a masculine head, with good eye and neat well set ears. His correct construction allowed him to move out well, covering the ground with reach and drive. BOB & G3.

2nd Scott’s Ventoso Severus Snape With Sanserit.

Miniature Schnauzer Open (4,3)

1st Flynn’s Rynuan Strike A Pose. 3.5 yr old pepper & salt bitch, the dam of the graduate winner so not surprisingly many of the same comments apply. She is a lovely balanced bitch who moved out well. In the challenge for BOB she was beaten by her son as I preferred his head.

Schnauzer Open (4,1)

1st Connell’s Achnacarry Sophies Girl. Almost 4yrs old pepper & salt bitch who is well balanced with strong yet feminine head, on strong neck of good length. She has a firm body, well ribbed, with good depth of chest. She moved out very well showing good reach and drive.

 Dalmatian Open (5,1)

1st Neilson’s Bariscot Aristarchus Moonet JW ShCM. Just turned two year black spotted male. A well balanced dog showing strength and elegance. Nicely marked overall he has a masculine head of good proportions, with dark expressive eye and good ears. Shown in excellent condition he was powerful on the move, sound away, back, and on the sidegait, maintaining a firm top line throughout.

Poodle (Standard) Open (6,5)

1st Taylor’s Dinasti The Ullusion 3yr old black male, shown in good coat. Strong head with good eye. Nice overall shape and good depth of chest. Moved reasonably well.

Eurasier Open (3,0)

1st Parkinson’s Lux & Ir Ch. Xania De Eurasipomer at Kaydanmy (Imp). A 2yr old bitch presented in first class condition. Well constructed, on the stand she presents a balanced outline, with high set tail carried over the back. She has a feminine wedge shaped head with good pigmentation, dark eye and correct ear shape and set. She has an abundance of coat, which today was a tad soft. On the move she was at one with her handler, moving straight to and fro and flowing on the sidegait. The show girl supreme, she never let up showing and really stood out in the group where her quality could not be denied. BOB G1.

1st Shepherd’s Lyntova I am Legend 14 month old Keeshond dog. This male has a really abundant coat, which is quite deceptive when looking at him for size and shape. He has a short compact body, with well sprung rib, good length of neck and well set curled tail. He has a masculine wedge shaped head, with correct eye and neat well set ears. He moved out well, with straight brisk action.

1st McKean’s Kichigai This Girl Is Mine at Yawren Almost 2yrs old Keeshond bitch. Lots to like about this girl who presented a lovely outline with balanced proportions. She has the prettiest of heads with a sweet expression good eye, the required breed spectacles and neat well set ears. She has a short strong back with good spring of rib, neat feet and good bone for size. She moved out well and showed herself to perfection to win BAVNSC & G4.

1st Bruce’s Donaska How Very Dare You. 7 month old Black Miniature Poodle bitch demonstrating well the gay-spirited good temper that the standard calls for. Presented in outstanding condition, this youngster already has a super coat of correct texture. She has a very pretty head, with good eyes and ears, carried proudly on good reach of neck. Well developed in body, she has good bone and neat tight feet. Moved out well when settled.

1st Hinshelwood’s Muirfauld Sunset on Silk 10mth old Lhasa Apso bitch who presents good overall balance. Typey head, with good muzzle and correct dentition. Well coated for her age. This self assured youngster carried herself well, covering the ground with a free jaunty action.

1st Ritchie’s Cheolview Faithful 7.5yr old b/w Lhasa Apso bitch. A credit to her owner this bitch was presented in firm condition and lovely coat. She has good head proportions with adequate muzzle, correct dentition and dark expressive eye. Strong well arched neck into balanced and compact body. Self assured, on the move she covered the ground freely. Was delighted she later went on to win BVIS.
