Redditch and District Canine Society Open Show

20th May 2017

Thank you to Redditch and DCS for the invitation to judge at their open show. I had a lovely day in spite of the weather and was really pleased with my entries. Thank you also to my stewards and the exhibitors for their entries.

Rottweilers

Both exhibits had the correct bite and excellent temperaments.

Class 198 Special Yearling (1/1)

1st 381, Vick’s Mia Von Der Festung at Vickangels (IMP HRV). 15 month old bitch, strong yet feminine head with the darkest eyes and confident expression. Well muscled neck into good lay of shoulder. Plenty of bone with very nice, compact feet and good pasterns. Broad chest and well sprung ribs, good forechest and front angles. Excellent topline which she held on the move and she carried her tail well. Good, hard condition throughout. Moved well but she just lacked a little drive from behind compared to the best of breed but she is still only young so has plenty of time to firm up as she matures. A beautiful girl. RBOB.

Class 199 Limit (1/1)

1st 380, Franklin’s Nageem Haribo at Haccasbrook. 22 month old powerful male. Masculine throughout, with a great ring presence. Broad head with dark eyes and self-assured expression. Muscular neck into well laid shoulders. Spacious chest with superb forechest and the correct front angulation. Strong bone down to tight, well arched feet and strong pasterns. Good topline and tail set. Good underline. Hind angulation was also just right, with excellent musculature and very strong hocks. Really shined on the move, he has an impressive side gait with his hinds giving him great drive and he tracks up well fore and aft. A very impressive boy and I was pleased to award him Best of Breed.

Beaucerons

Both exhibits had the correct bite and rear double dew claws.

Class 226 Postgraduate (1/1)

1st 421 White’s Overhills the Midas Touch. 21 month old black and tan male. Lovely, masculine head with a strong muzzle but not overdone. Dark eyes with an intelligent, yet cheeky, expression. Strong neck, well defined withers and moderate front angles. Good bone without being too heavy. Tight feet with strong pads. Good topline and a long ribcage, well muscled loin. Correct tailset and carriage. Nicely muscled hinds with good stifles and low set hocks Free-flowing movement once he got into his stride. Still needs a bit of time to mature but his overall balance is excellent, pleased to award him Best of Breed.

Class 227 Open (1/1)

1st White’s Overhill Caviere. 9 Year old black and tan male, made on larger lines than the younger dog. Masculine head with dark eye, another who conveys intelligence. Strong neck and well defined withers. In spite of being a veteran he is in excellent condition, still carrying good muscle throughout. Front and rear angles are correct and he has good bone and feet. Topline is firm and he holds this on the move. His movement is free flowing however I could see that he doesn’t quite have the endurance of the younger dog. I have no doubt that in his younger days he would have been hard to beat. RBOB.
