I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge at your lovely show, and hospitality. What a shame that the weather forecast was dire for the day. The rain was relentless in the morning making the absentee rate very high. A huge thank you to the exhibitors for braving the cold and wet, I had some lovely dogs to judge

Golden Retriever

Post Graduate (3,1)

1. Mr Copley - Hamcar Blue Moon

Mature 5 year old mid gold dog. He has a pleasing outline when stood, with a good height to length ratio. Kind and gentle expression from his dark eyes and pigmentation. Strong neck flowing into his well held firm topline. Thought him to be nicely angulated fore and aft, with good depth of brisket. Moving well in the confined space - BOB

1. Mr Copley - Largymore Lady Islay For Hamcar

Very feminine 8 year old bitch and mother to the BOB. When stood liked her body lines, just a shade shorter on the leg. Feminine and nicely chiselled head, strong neck, firm topline, super depth and development of forechest. Stood on well boned limbs. Moving true - RBOB

1. Mrs Anderson - Cassom Caravaggio At Linchael

2 very raw babes in this class, both enjoying their day out despite the rain and cramped tent. Winner a well balanced b/r dog, at just 8 months old has a super outline and body. Head developing along the right lines, kind dark eye. He is compact and sturdy with a good spring of rib. Well boned limbs, nicely angulated, and being short hock to heel. Coat is a little wayward at present. Moving with good width behind and with a cocker action – BP & PG2

1. Mrs Terry - Shaggylands To Hot To Handle

13 month old b/r dog having a little more scope to him at the moment. He has a lovely head, which is well balanced, nice square muzzle and a kind dark eye. Clean neck of good length flowing well into his topline. Fractionally longer in body, but with enough depth, good firm topline and well set on tail. Well angulated hindquarters. Moving out well and with drive

1. Mr Aykroyd - Helenwood High Velocity Of Clydesian

Black bitch coming up 5 years of age. When stood she has a compact and sturdy outline, nothing is overdone. She has a lovely kind expression and a dark eye. Neck of a good length and muscular, but a little throaty. She holds a firm topline both stood and on the move, with a correct set on of tail. Her body is deep and has a good spring to the ribs, being short coupled to give the desired profile. Well angulated hindquarters, with a good width of thigh. Moving with a typical merry cocker action. - BOB

1. Mrs Penneman - Labry Berry Brezhnev

20 month old dog, who today was providing his handler with a challenge! Still a little raw at this stage, but showing good proportions. He has lovely bone and substance all through. He has a strong masculine head, deep through the muzzle and a typical Sussex frown. Long neck with the slight arch flowing well into his topline, which was firm both standing and on the move. He was very unsettled on the move and rather distracted by all going on around him in the small tent, but showed enough to be true fore and aft.

1. Mr & Mrs Wakefield - Sh Ch Norriss Northern Cassandra

Lots to like about this 7 year old bitch. She has an impressive outline when stood, being of sound construction and plenty of bone and substance. With good width to the back skull and pronounced stop giving the desired frown completed with the clean and tight eye. She has strength through the body, with a super spring to the ribs and depth. Her strong hindquarters enabled her to move with purpose, being true and happy as she strode out – BOB & Gp4

1. Mrs Hodgson - Sanjika Tosca

2 year old w/o bitch. Her shape when stood has the correct ratios, being square in outline with the correct topline. Nothing is exaggerated on this bitch. Today she is lacking a little in coat and furnishings. She has the typical almost human expression. Neck of good strength with crest, enough depth of brisket and well sprung ribs. Nicely angulated hindquarters. Came alive on the move, holding her outline in profile and showing to be true and happy mover - BOB

1. Mr & Mrs French - Zen Power Diervilla (Imp Pol)

Very promising 10 month old dog. He has a most appealing shapely outline when stacked. Everything is just right for his age. He has a melting expression with those dark eyes and pigmentation, well proportioned head and desired chiselling. His long lean neck flows well into the gently sloping topline. Liked his bone, having strength but still racy. Enough depth for his age, good width of thigh. He was a little unsettled on the move, but showing good reach and drive – BP & Puppy Gp3

1. Milby & Stewart-Richie - Gwendariff We’ll Remember U JW

Such a shame there were so many absentees in the upper classes, but I was delighted with the quality. Close call between the first 2, which I was told later were brother and sister. Winner a 2 year old bitch, with such elegance and style. Liked her very much. She has a lovely flow about her, beautiful lines and balance. Lovely feminine head, lean long neck, firm topline stood and on the move, well set on tail, well angulated hindquarter. Moving out purposefully and with drive. With a little more furnishings, she will be the finished article. - RBOB

1. Mrs Mohan - Anlory Keltic Legend

Mature 5 year old dog who is the complete picture. He is of a nice size, has substance and is all male, but still retains the racy outline and refinement. He has a handsome chiselled head, with good length and leanness and nicely squared muzzle. Pleasing length of neck flowing cleanly into his slightly sloping topline. He has lovely depth and a developed forechest, but not overdone. His hindquarters show a good width of thigh. Shown in full bloom, with a flat rich chestnut coat. Giving his handler a bit of a hard time on the move, but once settled showed he was a free and positive mover - BOB & Gp2
