Northern Counties Whippet Club

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee for inviting me to judge this well run show and for your hospitality throughout the day; I would also like to thank the exhibitors for entering their wonderful Whippets under me and accepting my decisions so graciously. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was thrilled with my overall winners! Well done to all.

Dogs

Minor Puppy Dog (2) – 1 Coleman’s ROGANSROCK BORN LUCKY FOR SILURIAN. Promising puppy just 6 months old, good head with lovely dark pigmentation. Good length of neck into correct shoulder placement, enough depth and good front angles. Curvy outline which was pleasing to the eye. Moved sound when not bouncing but I don’t expect perfection from a puppy. BPD & RBPIS. 2. Yacoby-Wright’s COBYCO STANDING OVATION. Another promising puppy, with pleasing shape and good rear angles. Easy profile mover once settled I just preferred the front angles on 1.

Puppy Dog (1) – 1 Third’s WINDFLY ONNER BLUE MOON. 11 month old rich blue dog. OK head, good neck into well placed shoulders and correct front angles. Enough depth of chest for age, pleasing outline which he held on the move. Very sound however I would personally prefer more rear angulation.

Junior Dog (2) – 1 Chippendale’s COBYCO CLASSIC PERFORMANCE. Fawn and white brindle dog, handsome head with alert expression, good neck into good shoulder placement. Correct front and rear angulation allowing him to move soundly coming and going and in profile. Held his shape well. 2 Watson’s FALCONCRAG ROLLING STONE. Fawn brindle dog, handsome head with lovely dark pigmentation. Shapely boy who is sound coming and going with good rear angles into sturdy hocks, I found him slightly steeper in upper arm than 1.

Maiden Dog (1, 1a)

Novice Dog (1) – 1 Third’s WINDFLY ONNER BLUE MOON.

Special Beginners Dog (6) – 1 Sampson’s NEVEDITH ZUFOR ZAYNI JW SHCM. Wow I just loved this dog the minute he walked in, in my notes I have written the word ‘yummy’. Gorgeous head with melting expression, elegant neck into well laid shoulders. Super front angles allowing him to move long and low around the ring, good depth of chest with plenty of heart room. Curvaceous outline into good rear angles giving him power to move out. He held his topline in profile and was sound coming and going, handled to perfection by his young handler. Thrilled to award him Best Dog however missed out to the bitch on BIS as he decided to fly his tail in the challenge which just spoilt his overall outline. 2 Coleman’s WAKEBARROW WILLOW HERB AT SILURIAN. Red brindle and white parti, nice head into good length of neck. Well made front with good angles and plenty of depth, curvy outline flowing into good rear angles. Very sound coming and going and in profile. 3 Smith’s ALMAKAEALA ‘N’ THE BEAT GOES ON TO DEMERLAY.

Post Graduate Dog (5, 2a) – 9 Coleman’s WAKEBARROW WILLOW HERB AT SILURIAN. 2 Smith’s ALMAKAEALA ‘N’ THE BEAT GOES ON TO DEMERLAY. Fawn with white trim shapely boy, handsome head, good neck into ok shoulders. Good front and rear angles, movement OK. 3 Cowen’s AUFERO SNOW DUKE AT ANDEROCO.

Limit Dog (3, 1a) – 1 Sampson KOPPELWELL KOLA KUBE SHCM. Red Fawn and white parti dog with handsome head and pleasing expression. Good strong neck into well placed shoulders, good depth of brisket however I would prefer more angulation in his front. Curvy flowing outline which fits into his well made rear angles and sturdy hocks. Moved soundly coming, going and in profile. 2 Winup & Paipala’s BLANDINGS BOURBON CUM ROGANSROCK. Red brindle with white trim, handsome head with dark eye and pigment. Good neck into correct shoulders and front assembly and good rear angles. Not quite as shapely as 1 and not quite as sound on the move.

Open dog (3, 2a) – 1 Winkley-Balmer’s CROSSCOP HELLO AGAIN. Striking blue brindle dog, handsome head with alert expression, good neck into well placed shoulders and correct front angles. Curvaceous whippety outline which he held on the move and sturdy rear quarters. Very sound coming, going and in profile I would just prefer him to use a little more power from his rear to drive him round the ring. RBD.

Veteran Dog ( 4, 1a) – 1 Norman’s JARMANE BLUE TOPAZ. Gorgeous 9 year old blue dog, lovely head with a melting expression. Good long neck into good shoulders and correct front angles. Curvy outline with good front and rear angles. Very sound on the move and was clearly enjoying his day out. Loved him – BVD and RBVIS. 2 Winup & Paipala’s DALZEAH WINTER MELODY CUM ROGANSROCK. 7 year old fawn dog, loved his make, shape and type. Handsome head, curvy outline just not as sound as 1 on the move. 3 Clark’s DANCING BINTY.

Racing, Coursing & Lure Coursing Open Dog (4, 2a) – 1. Third’s BRUNTSFIELD BLACKMAIL. Black with white trim dog, good head, good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Good front, curvy outline flowing into well made rear. Sound mover. 2 Norman’s JARMANE BLUE TOPAZ.

Bitches

Racing, Coursing & Lure Coursing Open Bitch (3, 1a) – 1 Thirds TANGO TIME OF BRUNTSFIELD. 5 year old fawn bitch, pretty head, elegant neck into good shoulders. Well made front with good depth, curvy outline into well made rear quarters. Sound coming, going and in profile holding her topline with ease. 2 Hedley’s KNOXHILL SEE THE STARS. 2 year old black bitch, pretty head, good long neck into ok shoulders, I found her slightly straighter in front than 1. Curvy outline flowing into good rear quarters. Sound mover but would prefer more drive from behind.

Veteran Bitch (5, 3a) – 1 Cardu’s DALZEAH WALKING IN THE AIR. Classical fawn bitch with white trim. Pleasing pretty head with lovely expression. Strong elegant neck into good shoulders and a well made front and good depth of brisket. She is all curves and very sound coming, going and in profile. She was a joy to judge. BVB & BVIS. 2 Hedley’s KNOXHILL ECLIPSE. Pretty black bitch, again another lovely curvy outline, very sound on the move I just preferred the shoulder placement on 1.

Minor Puppy Bitch (6, 3a) – 1 Yacoby-Wright’s COBYCO CANDY CRÈME. Beautiful 8 month old bitch, another classical fawn with the most beautiful colour coat, like a piece of porcelain. Very pretty head with beautiful expression and dark pigment. Well made front and rear, curvaceous outline and very sound on the move for one so young. A very promising puppy. 2 Winup & Paipala’s ROGANSROCK LUCKY CHARM. 6 month old fawn brindle bitch, pretty head, good front angles with good depth for age. Curvy outline and sound on the move just needs to settle in front. 3 Chippendale’s COLLOONEY FALLEN ANGEL.

Puppy Bitch (3, 1a) – 1 Cowen’s AMELIA IT’S ALL AROUND ME. 10 month old fawn brindle bitch, pretty head on an elegant neck into good shoulders. Curvy outline covering enough ground, sound coming and going just found her slightly straight in front. 2 Chippendale’s LAYWAYS QUEEN OF HEARTS. Unfortunately the exhibit did not stay for a critique following the end of the class.

Junior Bitch (12, 3a) – 1 Bryant & Winkley-Balmer’s CROSSCOP WISHING ON A STAR. And what a star this super bitch is, my notes say WOW. 12 month old red fawn and white parti bitch, the prettiest of heads with gorgeous expression and pigment, carried on an elegant neck into well laid shoulders. Correct front and rear angles, good depth of chest, gracious and curvaceous outline which she held on the move. Sound mover coming and going but excels in profile movement, in a field of daisies none would have a head left. Handled to perfection and thrilled to award her best bitch, best puppy bitch and eventually BIS & BPIS. 2 Fryer’s COLLOONEY SWING LOW AT STONEFOX. Another quality bitch, a red brindle with a pretty head. Full of curves, good front angles and sturdy in rear. Loved her profile movement but she was tending to move a little wide when coming towards today. 3 Mason’s VEREDON GEEOER GAWPIN AT APHRAEL.

Maiden Bitch (3, 1a) – 1 Hedley’s KNOXHILL LET’S DANCE. Fawn bitch with a nice head, good neck into well placed shoulders. OK in front, good rear angles into sturdy hocks. Moved OK but has a tendency to move from her elbows. 2 Parr’s CROSSCOP RUMOUR HAS IT AT BELNAN. Fawn and white parti bitch. Pretty head, good length of neck, curvy outline, I would just prefer more angulation in front and rear. Moved OK.

Novice Bitch (8, 4a) – 1 Colquitt’s COBYCO CLASS AFFAIR OF KHALAZIR. Red brindle bitch with a nice pretty head, good eye, good length of neck into well placed shoulders. A very curvy bitch however I would personally prefer her to stand over a little more ground. Sound mover and holds her shape on the move. 2 Hedley’s KNOXHILL SEE THE STARS. 3 Norman’s BRUNTSFIELD BLUE PEARL.

Special Beginners Bitch (4) - 1 Chippendale’s CROSSCOP LOVE SONG. Pretty fawn and white bitch, lovely head with alert expression. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders, beautiful curvy outline with good front and rear angles. Very sound coming and going. 2 Clewes SHARDBECK RAINY DAZE. Fawn brindle bitch with a pretty head and soft melting expression. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders, good front angles and a curvy outline, sound in rear movement but was throwing her elbows today. 3 Colquitt’s COBYCO CLASS AFFAIR OF KHALAZIR.

Post Graduate Bitch (6, 4a) - 1 Meakin’s OAKBARK MISS BOSSY BOOTS. Wow I loved this bitch. Fawn and white parti with a beautiful head and gorgeous expression which sat on top of her flowing neck and into well placed shoulders. Her overall type is very classical, good front and rear angles which fit one another and a curvy flowing outline. Sound moving in all directions she made my decision for best bitch very difficult but just missed out as she was flagging slightly in the challenge. RBB. 2 Worthington’s INGLEMARCH IT’S MANDY. Fawn brindle bitch, pretty head, OK shoulders, good depth of brisket, curvy outline and sound coming, going and in profile I just preferred the front angulation on 1. 3 Clewes SHARDBECK RAINY DAZE.

Limit Bitch (5, 3a) – 1 Meakin’s OAKBARK MADE YOU LOOK. Fawn and white trim bitch with the prettiest of heads, good length of neck and well placed shoulders. Well made front and rear angles and a very shapely outline. Another classical bitch from this kennel and very well handled, another very sound mover, just didn’t feel she had as much drive as I would like to see from behind. 2 Winup’s WAKEBARROW WEEPING WILLOW CUM ROGANSROCK. Fawn brindle parti bitch with a lovely head and alert expression. Elegant neck into OK placed shoulders, flowing outline into sturdy well made rear. Sound mover but I preferred the front angles on 1.

Open Bitch (3, 1a) – 1 Winkley-Balmer’s CROSSCOP ME AND MY GIRL FOR EDENWHIP. Red brindle and white parti bitch with the most beautiful head and dark pigment. I have always admired this bitch and have done her well in the past. Elegant neck into well placed shoulders, super front and rear angles which fit one another well. Curvaceous classical outline and stands over plenty of ground. Super sound on the move however she didn’t seem her usual sparkly self today which cost her the top awards. 2 Watson’s MARIMAY MIRACLE IN MOTION. Fawn and white parti bitch with the prettiest of heads, good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Plenty of depth to brisket and good front and rear angles, moved ok but found her slightly close behind and lacked drive.
