Early Bird Post Grad Stakes (86, 28 abs) It was a pleasure to judge this very well filled class; not surprising with such generous prize money on offer. 1. Monaghan’s Tweedsmuir Shooting Star. A very eye catching and dignified Skye Terrier of excellent proportions and in smashing coat and condition. Moved effortlessly carrying a strong topline. 2. Green’s Bernerdalens Quest for Fame at Waldershelf (imp Swe) BMD. Her striking colour and overall sturdiness put her here. 3. Hobbs’ Beaconsfylde Catch the Kiss JW ShCM, CKCS. His oh so gentle expression made a big impression.

AVNSC Gundogs. A quality entry all through with some very close decisions.

Puppy (15, 2 abs) 1. Hibbert’s Ewtor Skyfall at Mindszenty. I am always more critical of a breed that I am involved in but this 10 mth HWV totally filled my eye with his outstanding breed type. Robust in build, distinguished in appearance he has a proper golden sand wire coat. His facial furnishings give his head the somewhat square appearance and he has such a gentle expression. His proportions are correct being slightly longer than tall and he is moderately angled with a superb forehand. He moves on an easy stride carrying a firm topline. BAVNSC Puppy and Puppy Group 2. 2. Spraggins’ Maycourt Hot Love at Tusepo, CCR. 3. Andrews and Blades’ Eldarrah Clash of Kings for Antdella, IWS.

Junior (5, 2 abs) 1. Glendinning and Jenkinson’s Plaiglen Gigi with Eastriding. This lovely 16 mth ACS was 4th in the huge Post Grad Stakes class.; she took my eye then with her impressive outline and beautiful head. She puts on an impressive performance with her great driving action showing a clean pair of heels. 2. Brookes’ Pennystone Shamrock, Pointer. 3. Gregory’s Arcadia Avon, ESS.

Post Grad (10, 1 abs) 1. Liens’ Kanix Lotus, well made o/w Pointer showing strength with elegance. Good oval bone, well sprung ribs, good depth and wide quarters. Would like to see more slope to pasterns but moves well covering plenty of ground. 2. Hamlyn’s Bushwacker Pietra, Bracco. 3. Boden’s Suelynda Pride of Our Alley, Clumber.

Open (15, 3abs) What a class this was; teeming with quality. 1. Bott & Savell’s Art-Waves Standing Ovation for Allenie (Imp Swe) . This 2 yr old ESS dog totally filled my eye with his flowing lines and strong, compact body displaying the slight raciness that sets the ESS apart from the rest of the Spaniel family. His balance is apparent and he stands most comfortably to show off his many attributes. He has a handsome head with a beautiful almond shaped eye giving him such a gentle expression. His strong neck flows into well laid shoulders and his depth and spring of rib give him plenty of heart and lung room. His well muscled loins add to his strength of body and his hindquarters are moderate and broad. His movement is totally reflective of his construction with an easy stride and precise footfall and again displays his obvious type by swinging his forelegs straight forward from the shoulder; going away he shows a very clean pair of heels. Quietly and confidently handled he put on an exciting performance to take BAVNSC and Group 1. It seems I was not the only one to appreciate him as he also took BIS. 2. Tully’s Ned Ch Bushwacker Gregory’s Girl at Highclare, WSS. 3. Mappin’s Bryerdale Texas Star JW, Gordon Setter.

AV Gundogs

Puppy (11, 2 abs) 1. Bennett’s Jesham Mariposa, I was very taken with this 6 mth FS b. Beautifully balanced with a pretty head and typical solemn expression. She has good depth and wide quarters and a gleaming liver coat. 2. Holley’s Wynjill Winner Takes All, Irish Setter. 3. Wallis and Baga’s Velrok Blue Bell, Cocker.

Post Grad (15, 8 abs) 1. Jagger’s Plaiglen Penny Farthing. Sturdy and well balanced Cocker with good ground covering action and an ever wagging tail. Very pretty head and expression. 2. Naull’s Silmanhurst Golden Hugo, English Setter. 3. Fawcett’s Helenswood Cool Breeze.

Open (8, 4 abs) 1. Mappin’s Black Anvil and Hernwood Stand and Deliver for Bryerdale. Upstanding Gordon Setter who powered round the ring. I loved the clear tan markings over his eyes. Ridsdill’s Koolunga Maggie May, English Setter. 3. Fawcett’s Jayzander Lets Tan Again, Cocker.
