Wolfhounds

It was with great pleasure I judged at this great open show. I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at this show, but an even greater thank you to those who entered under me and made the journey, despite a splattering of rain. The hospitality received was very warm and may the show long continue. I was very fortunate to receive an entry which had a good variety in type, yet quality throughout.

Junior

1st – Gregory’s MADALINCA SPRING OF JOY OF KILLOUGHERY – A promising 16month year old brindle bitch, with a plenty of growing yet to do. Enjoyed her overall shape, with plenty of curves in the right areas. Pleasant head, not too broad with a good eye, strong jaw also. Neck of good proportions leading to adequate lay of shoulder. Good width of chest, with strong, straight front legs. Appropriately deep chest for size/age leading to nice rib length and tuck up. Nice arch to her loin, leading to a good tail and rear quarters. On the move she covered the ground well and kept width in the rear.

2nd – Dunwell’s GOLDSWIFT SPARTANS SECRET – Light brindle 10 month old boy, who is going through transitional phase, especially with his furnishings. Loved his head, really strong and of nice proportions. Good neck length leading to a well-muscled front. Good substance throughout. Straight front, deep chest, to a body of good length. Good angles in the rear. He moves well, however, needs time to develop and fill.

Post Graduate

1st – Ashton’s BRIBIBA CUAN GHRA OF MADALINCA – 2.5year old Bitch. Dark in colouring and quite striking, especially in today’s company. Covered the ground well upon entry, moving with purpose. Upon closer inspection, a feminine head and typical expression. Correct jaw and bite. Strong neck leading to a well laid front. Excellent rib depth and length, with a gentle topline and sweeping underline. Drove out with real purpose and displayed good width throughout. Pushed hard for BOB.

Open

1st – Das Purkayastha’s RAVENBEECH ROMANUS AMONG NECKREBAGH – A 2 year old male of good type and full of substance throughout. Definitely ticked the box of commanding and when moving was surefooted and purposeful. Harsh a durable coat throughout. A masculine head, with correct bite and strong jaw. Neck of good length and proportion, leading to a well laid front which gave good reach. Straight front legs, lovely depth of chest and length, with appropriate tuck up. Well arched loin and nicely set rear. There is no doubt he is filled with power throughout. I was happy to award him BOB today.

2nd – Gregorys KILLOUGHERY THE BARON – A 4 year old boy who was a pleasure to go over. Another one who stood tall and commanded to be looked at. I immediately was drawn to his head and expression, and was pleased to find a soft eye, accompanied by a correct and strong jaw. Excellent substance throughout, good neck and length leading to a well formed, straight front. Good width throughout. Well sprung in rib and strong loins. Powerful rear end moving him out well.Correct  harsh coat also.
