Alaskan Malamute

PG. 1st & RBOB. Jarvis & Troisi’s Nordicwinds All Attitude.

The first of two delightful littermates I had the pleasure of judging today. An aptly named bitch of three years who had real presence, giving  an overall impression of power on the stand without lacking femininity. Lovely dark, almond eyes and well set ears giving a keen, typey expression. Good length of neck leading into well muscled shoulders and a good spring of ribcage. Stood on lovely tight feet and correct length of well boned leg. Broad thigh and well let down hocks. Ably presented, in fantastic coat, I thought she was very well balanced in angulation and overall proportions, moving cleanly from all angles and holding her shape well. She certainly pushed her brother hard but had to settle for Reserve Best of Breed today.

O. 1st& BOB. Horsman & Horsman-Phoenix’s Nordicwinds Action Hero.

Brother to my Post-Graduate Winner, and possessing the same athletic appeal as her, but with the masculinity I would hope to define them. A very attractive head, with correct shape of eyes and a nice bulky muzzle. Good set of ear, when he chose to use them, and a strong broad skull. Loved his arch of neck and gently sloping topline, which alongside a well-developed chest gave a nice profile picture. Strong, compact hocks and well boned legs with tight snowshoe feet. Moderate angulation front and rear, making him well balanced on the move with no excess weight and a lovely waving plume to finish the picture. Not in as good a coat as his littermate, though still harsh in texture, however when nitpicking for Best of Breed felt he edged her slightly in rear drive today. Was very pleased to see him place WG2.
