The English Setter Association Championship Show

Sunday 23rd April 2017 - English Setter (Bitches)

Judge - Mr Steve Collier (Roszarke)

It was a pleasure to judge at ESA and thank you to all the committee / stewards for organising a very enjoyable and efficient show. It was good to see some promising young bitches coming through and the depth of quality in the older classes. Overall I was looking for feminine bitches with the correct balance and elegance, but also the substance and conditioning needed in a gundog. Today the BOB came from the dog ring with Phenset Blue Max (gaining his title on the day) and Best Puppy in Breed was the bitch Bramstorm Tapestry.

Minor Puppy Bitch - 6 entries (3 absent)

1.    Jarvis’s Hawklawn Summer Breeze – Elegant 8 month dark tri puppy with balanced outline and clean neck and shoulders. Lean head with pleasing expression and dark eye. Good body properties, with correct bone and good angulation. Moved best in class, going true and straight with good forward reach and positive rear drive. Should mature nicely.

2.    Darley’s Severnsett Queen of Hearts – 7 month light tri puppy with level top line and good conformation providing the overall balanced picture when stood. Shown in good coat and condition. Elegant head shape and kind expression. Just not as steady on the move as 1 today.
