South West Whippet Club Championship Show 19th February 2017 – Bitches

I would like to thank the club for inviting me to Judge Bitches at their Championship Show, a club I have many fond memories of over the years and one which made me very welcome on the day. My co-judge and I were junior handlers together so it was lovely to have this chance to judge at a Championship Show together & we later totally agreed on all apart from RBIS for which the referee was needed.

The quality of the bitches entered was very good for breed type, conformation and soundness with no exaggerations making for some very close decisions on the day. I was very happy with my final line up where quite a few of them were contenders for the top awards.

VB (2,1ab)

1st    Severns – Deljorhea Dream Racer At Nattah;    8 year old brindle bitch of a lovely shape presented in good condition. Nice in head and length of neck, good lay of shoulder and well ribbed back with good depth to her body. Good curve over croup and rear angles, moved out well.

MPB (6,2abs)

1st    Webbers – Zoraden Darkest Wings;   a lovely black puppy who was so curvy and shapely from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail. Lovely shoulder and upper arm, good length of neck and correct body depth and width for her age and so balanced. Of lovely size, feminine and moved out well, delighted to award her BPB . Sadly in the challenge for BPIS she slightly flagged so was awarded RBPIS.

2nd    Jones – Jothryn Golden Glow;   a brindle again of lovely size, with lovely curves and good angles overall. Nice shape to her head, sufficient in length & width of neck, well ribbed back, firm back & loin with good stifles & good in second thigh. Moved out well.

3rd    Winkley-Balmers – Edenwhip Lady Of The Lakes.

1st    Home & Fisher-Homes – Citycroft Creme Caramel Of Jasarat;    a quality bitch puppy who settled more as this class progressed. A lovely head & expression, good in neck and shoulders with a nice return of upper arm.  A lovely overall shape, nothing exaggerated, well conditioned & correctly muscled with lovely sound movement.

2nd    Stephens – Dolce Diva Divine N Delary (imp Ita, naf,taf);        lovely shapely brindle bitch who needs to settle and mature a touch more. Lovely head & expression, good overall angulation, sufficient body depth for age, well ribbed back & nice curve to stifles. Moved out well.

3rd    Allens – Zoraden Sweet Surprise.

JB (12,2 abs)

1st    Marston-Pollock & Mawsons – Falconcrag High Class;     such an aptly named fawn & white bitch heading this class. Of lovely overall shape, balanced and nothing exaggerated. Good in head & expression, lovely neck into well laid shoulders, good depth of brisket & well ribbed back with good loin, flows over her croup, short hocks & moved out well.

2nd    Bayleys – Collooney Candy Crush;   fawn with a lovely head & expression, good length neck into well laid shoulders, well ribbed back & nice length of loin. Good depth to brisket, front with good fill, curvy rear quarters & moved out soundly.

1st    Howgate & Hulls – Palmik Kandalama Dusk Till Dawn JW;   brindle white parti with such a lovely head & expression, lovely neck for length & strength into well laid shoulders & return of upper arm. Good length & depth of body, well ribbed back flowing over the croup into correct rear quarters. Presented in lovely condition & muscle tone. A balanced & very sound moving bitch & was delighted to award her the RBCC.   

2nd    Winkley-Balmer & Bryants – Crosscop Wishing On A Star;   striking fawn & white with a lovely head & expression, good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Good depth of brisket, well ribbed back with firm body of good length. Curvy rear quarters, super tight feet, moved out well.

3rd    Griffiths – Amber Amaryllis From Pelyma.

2nd    Hawkers – Mollytop Dreamy Night;    lightly brindled bitch with a nice head & expression, good length of neck into nicely laid front angles. Good length and depth of body, well ribbed back, just needs to drop into herself a little more yet. Moved out well.

3rd    Leatharts – Ringmore Galatea.

1st    Gallies – Gwendariff Thanks A Latte;    so much more settled in this class although very slightly shortening herself, this lovely fawn bitch is of a lovely size and overall shape. Feminine head with lovely expression, good length of neck into good shoulder & return of upper arm, well ribbed back.  Curvy rear quarters and moved out well.

2nd    Bridges – Chesilven Meadow Sweet;    brindle girl of good overall shape, again nothing exaggerated with her. Good for neck and shoulders, well ribbed back with good depth of brisket, nice length of loin and curvy rear end, moved out well.

3rd    Reeses – Millingtondale Mercury.

1st    McConkeys – Barmoll Baileys On Ice;    fawn bitch of good size, nothing overdone at all, with a nice head & expression. Lovely length & width of neck into correct lay of shoulder & good return upper arm. Good for depth & length of body, well ribbed back & firm over the loin. Good in rear quarters & well conditioned with lovely free movement.

2nd    Boughton Whites – Ipanema Girl On Fire;   good in head & expression, lovely length of neck into well laid front but feel she just needs to drop into her frame a little more yet. Good for depth of brisket & length of body, good over the loin flowing into curvy rear quarters with good second thighs & tight feet, moved out well.

3rd    Mortimers – Chesilven Vanilla Velvet.

1st    Hoopers – Torbers Satin And Lace;    fawn & white quality bitch of a lovely overall shape and so feminine and balanced. Lovely head & expression, good length neck with width flowing into a correct shoulder with good return of upper arm. Good for body condition & length with correct depth and underline, well ribbed back, good loin & croup flowing into curvy rear quarters which she used well on the move. Delighted to award her BCC and with the agreement of my co Judge, BIS.

2nd    Home & Fisher-Homes – Citycroft My Fair Lady Of Jasarat JW;     another lovely striking bitch with a good overall shape and balance. Good for head & expression with a lovely length of neck which flows into a well laid front. Good body length & well ribbed back, lovely depth of brisket and good loin. Croup well set flowing into curvy rear quarters, moved out well.

3rd    Peacocks – Drakesoak Hubble Bubble.

1st    Leatharts – Molvine Zoe;    super white with fawn bitch, very feminine and shapely overall. Lovely in head & expression, very good strength & length of neck flowing into a well laid shoulder & return of upper arm. Good in depth of body, good underline, lovely length of back with good loin and ribbing, nicely set croup and shapely rear quarters. Well conditioned & muscled, moved out well.

2nd    Ellis – Railfield Raining Kisses;   feminine fawn bitch who just appeared to be pushing into her front here & therefore shortening herself a little. Liked her head & expression, good for neck length flowing into her nicely laid front, good for body depth & ribbing, good over the loin into nicely shaped rear end. Moved well if just a tiny bit unsettled.

3rd    Harding-Waite & Waites – Mulranny Miss Moneypenny At Caderleth.

1st    Meakins – Oakbark Miss Bossy Boots;     a quality fawn & white bitch of super overall lines and balance. Lovely in head & expression, good length & width of neck flowing into her correctly laid shoulder & return of upper arm. Lovely length of body, with correct depth & underline, good over the loin and a well set croup. She has good length of ribbing and firm back, and a lovely sweep into her rear quarters. In lovely condition & moved out well.

2nd    Bayleys – Whisterfield As If By Magic JW ShCM;      another lovely moving bitch in good condition & muscle tone. Good in head and neck, lovely well laid shoulders & good return of upper arm. Well ribbed back, good depth of brisket & a firm loin. Correctly curved rear quarters with good second thigh & well let down hocks.

3rd     Quirks – Almakaeala Dreamy Wispers.

1st Boughton-Whites – Ch. Whiptails Happiness And Joy At Ipanema (imp.Fin);      very feminine balanced fawn bitch of lovely proportions and overall shape. A lovely head & expression, good for length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders & good return of upper arm. Good length to her back & firm over the loin, lovely for depth with a good underline. Can just appear on the stance to tuck in her croup a little but does has lovely curves to her stifles & is well conditioned with good muscle. Moved out well.

2nd    Akerboom & van der Schaaf – Dutch Ch. Creme Anglaises Hello Look At Me;   brindle bitch who has lovely clean lines. Lovely in head & expression, good length of neck with strength into super front angulation. Good length of a firm back, lovely for depth of brisket & good underline, firm over the loin.  Good width across the stifle & well let down hocks, moved out well here & presented in lovely condition.

3rd    Winkley-Balmers – April Showers At Crosscop.
