Breed: Siberian Husky

South Wales Kennel Association 2017

I would like to thank all the exhibitors for their entries and the association for the appointment and say how much I enjoyed the day. Felt more relaxed this time round. Our breed entry at this venue has dropped in recent years so it is good to see it recovering towards the 2011 figures. The quality of the dogs presented on the day was excellent and resulted in some difficult decisions in some classes. Observations on the day related firstly to the badly placed speaker system in the hall, which was positioned to close to our ring. It really did appear to unsettle a few of the younger dogs on the day. Notably there were a few exhibits carrying to much weight. This resulted in them rolling badly on the move and one exhibit toed in very badly from the front but wasn’t lame. Extremely pleased with my ticket and main class winners on the day and was really pleased with our BOB who I thought represented our breed extremely well in the group later in the day.

MPD (0/0)

PD (1/0) 1 Beirne Snowruns Taiga. 10 mths old, wolf grey, bi eyed male, attractive head with good ear-set, rangy build at the moment but will grow into himself, a little upright in the pastern, however well angulated in the front and rear, level topline, correct croup and tail carriage, unsettled on the move today but shows plenty of potential for the future. BPD

JD (5/1) 1 Cooper Janskcoo’s Fortitude. 17 months old, G/W, bi eyed male with gentle, alert expression. Really loved this boy’s outline standing and his overall proportions, nice lay of shoulder, well-angulated front and rear with level topline, good croup, tail carriage and lovely ratios with leg length to height, this boy really showed his socks off displaying plenty of ground covering movement on the day. 2 Beirne Penkhalas Itaska just over 11 mths, wolf grey with light brown almond eyes, good overall condition, in lovely coat and carrying the right weight, noted his tail was set a little high on the croup resulting in his tail being carried a bit tight, overall well proportioned, handled and presented but noted he didn’t really open up on the move.

GD (4/0) 1 Cooper Janskcoo’s Fortitude 2 Carter Satanta’s Radium. Just over 2 yrs of age, wolf grey, bi eyed, it has to be said that this boys head isn’t his fortune, ears tall and set very wide, but in lovely coat, would benefit from a tad more weight across his body, moderate bone, well angulated with lovely outline standing, good topline, croup and tail carriage. Covered the ground extremely well from the side and very sound in the rear on the out and back. Well presented and handled on the day.

PGD (2/1) 1 Cooper Janskcoo’s Fortitude

LD (7/0) 1 Leich & Koops Forstal’s Tuff. 4 yrs, really super wolf grey boy who caught my eye immediately as he came into the ring. Pleased to say I wasn’t disappointed in any way once I was able to go over him, excellent angulation front and rear, firm topline, correct arch over the loin, good croup and tail carriage. In great good coat and overall condition and very well muscled. It was lovely to run my hand across his shoulder, attractive foxy masculine head, well placed ears and lovely brown almond shaped eyes, ideal proportions throughout and correct leg length to height. He moved out well when asked with no wasted energy and was well handled to get the very best out of him. A very worthy CC winner who want onto win BOB on the day and represented our breed well in the group. BOB and CC. 2 Carter Santanta’s Platinum. Just over 2 yrs, wolf grey dog, litter mate to 2nd in GD. In good coat and overall condition, well-muscled, good angulation front and rear, level topline, accompanied with the correct slope of pastern, good feet correct slope of croup and tail carriage, he was true coming and going and moved very well for a young dog. Needs time to mature and I would be interesting to see him again in a year or two. Well handled to get the best out of him on the day.

OD (6/1) 1 Foard Bifrost Merlot. Almost 8.5 yrs, judged this boy previously and must say how settled he was today. A very functional dog and very workman like in every way, monochromatic B/W, blue almond shaped eyes, with attractive head and gentle expression, good ear-set, excellent angulations front and rear, fit feet, firm topline, good croup and tail carriage and in lovely coat on the day and presented in well muscled condition. Another dog with a ground covering gait, which was smooth and light-footed, true coming and going and it has to be said pushed very hard in the challenge. RCC . 2 Grisbrooke Ch Azgard Glock almost 3 yrs, G/W, lovely dark almond eyes and soulful expression, attractive head and good ear-set, lovely coat and condition, well angulated front and rear with a lovely outline standing, good topline, croup and tail carriage. Light footed and covered the ground well from the side and sound in the rear. A lot to like about this dog who was well handled on the day. Unfortunate to meet one today who was very settled on the day and really showed himself to full advantage.

VD (2/0) 1 Winter & Unwin Nashanessen’s Dirty Harry at Snowtrekka JW. Just over 7 yrs, wolf grey dog, lovely head, excellent ear set and dark almond shaped eyes. In good coat and overall condition, lovely angulations with a level topline, with the correct slope of pastern, croup and tail carriage, sound coming and going but thought today he lacked his usual sparkle. 2 Grice Trelowen Poppo ShCM. 10 yrs, G/W, blue almond shaped eyes, in good coat, enjoying his day out with his handler, but carrying far to much weight, really rolling on the move, dipping with his shoulder and noted he was toeing in from the front which made him look very clumsy on the out and back.

GCD (1/0) 1 Grice Trelowen Poppo ShCM

MPB (2/0) 1 Brown Deska’s Cassiar Dyr for Polarcreek NAF. 9 mths, lovely G/W bitch feminine head and gently expression, lovely dark brown almond eyes, good ear-set, light in bone, but well angulated with lovely outline in the stand, firm topline, accompanied with good croup and lovely tail carriage. She moved well for a minor puppy on the day. In fact she was a real sweetheart and showed lots of potential for the future. 2 Norman Skimarque Shades of Midnite. 7 mth bitch, B/W, alert keen expression with lovely dark eyes, looked good from all angles, in correct coat and carrying the right weight, correct leg length into good tight feet, a lot to like about this girl, who is starting to understand what is expected of her and is developing a good relationship with her handler who brought the best out of this puppy on the move. Just preferred one on the day. One to watch for the future.

PB (4/1) 1 Jones & Mihulka Shaytaan’s Upyours at Icynights. 11 mths, lovely G/W bitch, feminine head and gently expression, lovely brown almond shaped eyes, good ear-set, well angulated with lovely outline in the stand, light in bone, excellent topline for a puppy, demonstrating light-footed ground covering movement from the side and drive from the rear and must say she was ably handled on the day to get the best out of her. BP. 2 Norman Skimarque Shades of Midnite.

JB (3/1) 1 Cooper Janskcoo’s Strength N’Honour JW. 17 mths, gorgeous wolf grey girl, with dark almond shaped eyes that really ticked all the boxes for the breed standard, lovely feminine head and expression, well set ears, light footed and ground covering movement again with no wasted energy, sound coming and going, well angulated with ideal proportions and firm topline, croup and tail carriage and good length of leg to height ratios. Much to like about this girl. 2 March & Smith Janskcoo’s Echoes in Eternity 17 mths, has all the attributes of her litter sister who was placed first, beautiful feminine expression and refined foxy head, well set ears, well handled to get the best out of her on the day, demonstrated light ground covering movement, there really wasn’t much to choose between these girls on the day and on another occasion placing’s will probably be reversed.

Light footed, ground covering movement, sound coming and going. In lovely coat and to be honest never put a foot wrong to win the class with her handler. 2 March & Smith Trailhunter’s Kalisibella 3 yrs, nicely put together, attractive feminine head with good ear-set, lovely shoulder angulation and firm topline, into correct croup, tail carriage and good overall angulations, covered the ground well on the move, light footed and sound front and rear. Well handled but preferred the movement of one on the day.

LB (6/1) 1 Evan’s Zarchenski Schooner Pickle at Demoneira. 3.5 yrs, gorgeous girl that ticked all the boxes for me. Keen, alert expression, blue eyes and a lovely dark face. Liked the angle of her shoulder, excellent angulations front and rear, firm topline on the move, gently slope on the croup with good tail carriage. Extremely sound coming and going, light footed and covered the ground with ease. Very well handled and presented by her owner to win her class today. 2 Leich & Koops Forstal’s Kittila. 2.5 yrs, lovely feminine G/W girl, who really drew my eye on entering the show ring. Has a gorgeous head and delightful expression, well placed ears, good overall angulations with a firm topline on the move, gentle slope of croup but her tail set seemed slightly high, holds a lovely profile, nice leg length to height ratios with correct bone, lovely coat and holding just about the right amount of weight. Light footed, ground covering movement on the day, sound coming and going but just appeared a little unsettled.

OB (8,2) 1 Jones & Mihulka Icynight’s Too Hot To Handle JW nearly 4 yrs, B/W feminine expression, oblique almond shaped eyes, well set ears, good shoulder angulation running into good length of leg, gentle slope of pastern into tight feet, gently arched over the loin into a nice curve of stifle, expertly handled by her breeder to get the best out of this girl on the day, demonstrating light ground covering movement with reach and drive. 2 Smith Amical Snow White almost 6 yrs, lovely feminine white girl with gorgeous head and delightful expression, well placed ears, good overall angulations with firm topline on the move, croup and tail carriage, good leg length and correct bone. Lovely movement, sound coming and going but on the day sadly didn’t move with the same extension from the rear as 1.

VB (6/1) 1 Jones Azgard Susitna nearly 11yrs, very attractive monocromatic B/W girl, dark brown almond eyes, lovely feminine expression, lacking a little in stop, but have to say today this girl really used her ears to frame her head, well put together with good angulations, topline, croup and tail carriage, in plush coat and carrying the correct weight. Moved very well covering lots of ground without great effort, very light footed with smooth movement. BV. 2 Smith Rajarani Lilia Anana nearly 9 yrs, lovely head and expression, brown eyed, feminine girl, with correct ear-set, another dog in good overall condition and holding the right weight, very ably handled today. Lovely outline in the stand with good ratios of leg length to height, moved well but didn’t have the same drive from the rear as 1 today.

GCB (1/0) 1 Johns Rajarani Koko for Alpenkye JW nearly 8 yrs, attractive understated B/W female with dark almond shaped eyes, keen expression, good overall angulations front and rear, level topline, gentle slope on the croup, correct tail carriage.
