Breed: English Setter

DRIFFIELD CHAMP SHOW 29TH SEPT 2017    ENGLISH SETTER

Thank you to the exhibitors who braved the weather. The ring was unfortunately water-logged and some exhibits coped better than others on the move, some not liking the muddy surface which made them hard to assess on the move.

PUPPY DOG (1)   1st: Cole’s Albadora Obi Wan Kenobi  A pleasing 11 month old orange dog. Liked his head proportions with dark eye and correct earset. Clean in outline and has good shoulder placement. Needs time to develop in forechest. Well bent stifles and has a good topline and correct tailset. Moved well and although stood alone today a worthy BP.

POST-GRAD DOG (2)   1st: Burt’s Richecca Rob Roy  A 5 year old dog that presented a pleasing outline when stacked. Good head proportions with dark eye. Clean neck and well laid shoulders with elbows well down. Strong over loin and adequate rear angulation. Unfortunately just not moving out at all day in the muddy conditions.

OPEN DOG (5)  1st: Loynd’s Sh Ch Crimbledale Sea The Skies JW  This was a lovely class of quality exhibits. My first was a quality dark blue dog who presents a super outline when stacked. Loved his head and expression with dark eye. Strong muscular neck and correct shoulder lay, excellent depth to forechest and ribs well sprung. Stifles well angulated and good width to second thigh, shown in good coat with ample feathering. The best mover of the day, holding his topline well and correct tail carriage. He covered the ground with ease despite the conditions. BD and pleased to award him BOB     2nd: Danks-Kemish’s  Sh Ch Ravensett Jail House Rocks Alolfran JW Sh.CM  One I have judged before as a youngster and has made a very worthy Show Champion. Masculine and well-proportioned in head. Clean over neck and shoulders well laid. Level topline and powerful over loin with strong hindquarters. Just not as positive in front movement as my winner. Shown in good coat and excellent muscular condition. Res BD    3rd: Watkins & Phillips Bumblecorn Winter Ice At Glenmaurangi JW

GOOD CITIZEN DOG (2)  1st: Dykes & Mc Crindle’s Sh Ch Calydene Travelling Man   A top quality tri-colour dog who had the best of heads, masculine but without any coarseness. Good muscular neck and well laid shoulders. He has good depth and correct short back length. Good rear angulation and strong hocks. At nine years he still moves out well with style and drive with a lovely tail set, a very worthy Show Champion of the breed.  2nd: Richecca Rob Roy (repeat)

JUNIOR BITCH (2)   1st: Saville’s Wansleydale Gold Charm For Brysett   A feminine youngster who is developing well. Clean neck of good length with correct front assembly just needs to drop in forechest. Well balanced fore and aft and has level topline with well set on tail. Needed to stride out on move to give her best today.

POST-GRAD BITCH (1)  1st: Wilson’s Upperwood Unforgettable at Abiwrose   A quality young bitch, feminine head with lovely expression and correct eye shape. Clean over neck with well laid shoulders and good length to forearm.  Correct back length with level topline and deep in ribs. Well set on tail and strong hindquarters, shown in good coat and condition. She has a good stylish action and although stood alone today I’m sure she will do well in good company. Please to award her BB
