Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge at this lovely show. A very friendly atmosphere and sporting exhibitors. Thank you so much for the pleasure of your dogs.

Flat Coated Retriever

Puppy (7,2)

1. Mr & Mrs Hammersley - Castlerock Magical Shadow

A lovely class to start the day, the floor proving to be a bit of a challenge. At just 6 months old, this dog has so much appeal. He is very raw, but everything is in the right place. He has clean and flowing outline when stood. A lovely head piece, with good length to the foreface. For one so young he held a firm topline both stood and on the move. Enough depth and correct spring to the ribs. A little flat footed at the moment. Liked his hindquarters showing good width of thigh and nice bend of stifle. Moving out well - BP

2. Mr & Mrs Salt - Toccata Of Harlaston With Wetnoses

3. Mr & Mrs Buckley - Buckleyhill Finava Lagacy (AI)

Junior (9,2)

1. Mrs Lane-Ridyard - Kulawand Kodebreaker JW

A 17 month old bitch, thought her to be of a lovely size and overall shape. She is so attentive to her handler and shows herself off to advantage. She has a balanced head shape of the correct proportions, eyes dark but a little loose. Her strong clean neck flows well into her topline. She has good depth to the ribcage, strong loin well angulated and muscled hindquarters. Moving out with drive and at one with her handler. Very close up for top awards.

Previously 2nd in the puppy class. Another raw but well proportioned 8 month old dog. Liked his clean flowing lines and happy outgoing demeanour. He has a well moulded head, clean dark eye and well set on ears. He has enough neck flowing into his well held topline. Nicely boned and onto tight feet. Once settled down on the move showed good drive.

Post Graduate (2,1)

Lovely head, long and well moulded, with a kind dark eye. Strong muscular neck, good depth to the brisket and forechest, holding a firm topline. Moderate rear angulation with well rounded feet. 1. Ms & Dr Walker & Roberts - Gloi Dubh Eriskay JW

Lovely 3 year old black bitch. She has the typical flatcoat attitude with a love of life. Thought her to have good body lines when stacked, with the correct amount of substance. Her head is appealing with good length to the foreface and those dark mischievous eyes! She has a clean neck of a good length, firm topline and well set on tail which was in constant use. Liked her depth of brisket with a good forechest. Nicely angulated fore and aft. Moved out with purpose - BOB

Irish Red & White Setters

Junior (1,0)

1. Mrs Ward - Courtdown Fair Maid of Devon

A smaller framed 14 month old bitch, and rather raw at present. She has a feminine head, which has a good length to the foreface and a kind eye. Time is on her side to mature through the body. When stood, she holds a firm topline with a well set on tail. Her coat has a good lustrous pearl white and clear red patches. Gaining confidence on the move to stride out well

The floor seemed to be an issue for these dogs, the bitch placed 2nd did not seem to be settled on the stack or moving today, a shame as she has some fine qualities.

1. Mr & Mrs Hart - Redmore Diamond Geezer Mit Gilliegrae

There is no mistaking this 3 year old dogs gender, he is all male. He has the desire athletic appearance. He has a masculine head with a kind expression. Strong muscular neck, brisket is down to the elbow and ribs well sprung. At times has a tendency to lose his topline. Well angulated, showing good width and muscle tone to his hind quarters. Coat of a fine texture, colour more saddled. Today finding the slippery floor easier to manage on the move to stride out well with drive from the rear just a little loose in front - BOB
