Llynfi Valley Canine Society

Lynfi Valley Canine Society – 21st February 2016     

My thanks to Officers & Committee for the invitation to judge, their excellent hospitality & my efficient steward Kay Morris for keeping thing running smoothly .  Thanks to the exhibitors for their entry. I thoroughly enjoyed my day.     

Working      Alaskan Malamute  - Grad – 3 (3a)     

Alaskan Malamute – Open – 3 (2a)      1 Robb’s Icewolf Hugo Boss   Impressive masculine dog who epitomises the breed and is full of quality. Excels in head which is broad & powerful, strong neck, good shoulders, well off for bone. Plenty of depth of chest, straight back, correct tailset. Strong muscular quarters with moderate angulation, well let down hocks, so well balanced throughout.  Pleasure to watch him cover the ring with strong driving movement. Well presented and shown in a dense harsh coat. BOB, pleased to award him GI      

Rottweiler – Grad – 1 (0a)      Close decision between mother & son      1 Sweet’s Saintlythans Ice on the Moon   3 yr old dog with a most appealing head & expression.  Lovely broad skull, high ear set & strong foreface, dark eyes.  Muscular arched neck, good depth of chest, well laid back shoulders.  Well off for bone & nicely balanced throughout.  Straight backed with a good spring of rib. Correctly angulated quarters with well let down hocks.  Covered the ring with ease. BOB, pleased to award him G3      

Rottweiler – Open – 3 (0a)      1 Hopgoods Juffther All Woman   Well balanced feminine bitch with a lot to like, well proportion head and a delightful expression. Good length of neck, clean well angulated shoulders, good depth of brisket.  Well balanced body with a nice straight back.  Correctly angulated rear quarters, moved well and just lost out to her son for breed.      2.Sweet’s Sanitlythans time Warp     

Great Dane – Grad – 4 (1a)      1 Kingsley Cwmgwyn Pwyll for Dainoak   Upstanding well put together powerful young dog with a grand well proportioned head so typical for the breed. Flat skull, good length of foreface and nice width of muzzle.  Good length of neck well arched leading into correctly angulated shoulders, tight feet. Good body, well off for bone, muscular quarters nicely angulated, good length of second thigh. Pleasing outline, moved well. Bernese mountain Dogs – Grad – 2 (1a)      1 William’s Tinland Nia Perfect   Sweet young lady of just 6 and a half mths old. Good flat skull and dark expressive eyes. Neat clean shoulders, good front & well boned. Compact body with a nice straight back. Well angulated quarters, strong hocks. Carrying a good puppy jacket.  Moved well around the ring. BOB

Giant Schnauzer – Open – 2 (2a)     

Dogue De Bordeaux – Grad – 1 (0a)      1 Damkartre’s Sirocco   What a little cracker this 6 mth old young lady is. Excels in head, broad skull, good forehead slightly furrowed and a powerful short muzzle. Eyes well set apart with a most appealing expression. Strong neck, well defined withers with good shoulders well laid back. Plenty of substance yet so feminine.  Good depth of chest, broad back, well angulated quarters with a good bend to stifle. Moved with ease around the ring holding her topline.  BOB was pleased to award her PG2 must have a bright future ahead.     

Dogue de Bordeaux – Open – 1 (1a)     

AV Working – Puppy – 4 (1a)      1 Roger’s Ardhub Starman  - Bullmastiff   This 7 mth boy was my star of the day, quite took my breath away when he walked into the ring. Excels in head which is so typical, good width to skull, pronounced stop and a short muzzle. Well arched muscular neck, good shoulder placement, straight wide front, deep chested. Short backed with a good depth of brisket, plenty of substance to this boy.  Strong muscular quarters with good width over the loin.  Impressive in profile and so well balanced throughout.  Covered the ring with ease with his steady powerful movement, held his topline well. Destined for top honours, PG1 pleased he went onto BPIS congratulations.      2 Jones Sapeck Midnight Star – Great Dane      3 Baker’s Tinland Molly Malone – Bernese Mountain Dog     

AVNSC Working – Grad – 3 (0a)      1 Courtney-Roberts Korifey Platinum At Tyrdulais – Doberman   Placed this one highly as a puppy and has matured into a lovely dog. Has a most delightful well proportioned head, good flat skull, slight stop, good parallel lines, well set ears, alert expression. Good length of neck, clean well angulated shoulders. Lovely square body with a straight topline and well sprung ribs, Strong well angulated quarters with a good turn of stifle. 3 Taylor’s Lanberns Red Ribbions – St Bernard   An adorable young lady just 6 mths with a most melting expression. Large head, lovely short muzzle, very expressive dark eyes.  Good shoulders, well boned but very feminine.  Level broad back, good width over the loin.  Strong rear quarters, good hocks, moved steadily around the ring.  

4 Kingley’s Unmistakably Vom Romersee At Dainoak   Well put together 6 mth old bitch with a typical head with a lovely length of foreface.  Good reach of neck leading into correct shoulders.  Tight feet, plenty of substance, strong angulated quarters, pleasing outline, moved well.     

Pastoral      Shetland Sheepdogs  - Junior - 3 (3a)     

Shetland Sheepdogs  - Grad – 2 (1a)   2 quality shelties   Haensel’s Jontygray Midas Touch for Sherkarl   Very feminine 14mth bitch who is maturing well since I judged her as a puppy, she is so well balanced throughout.  Well proportioned refined head with with a typical expression.  Well laid back angulated shoulders, straight back, well bodied.  Correctly angulated quarters with a good bend of stifle.  Carrying a lovely jacket.  Moved soundly around the ring, just lost out to the dog on maturity.  A quality young lady with a bright future.     

Shetland Sheepdogs  - Open – 5 (4a)      Haensel’s Lorainian Mr Bojangles At Sherkarl JW SHCM   A well presented masculine dog with a most delightful refined wedge shaped head with an alert expression.  Expressive almond eyes, small well set ears which he used well.  Nicely arched neck, straight front with correctly angulated shoulders.  Well bodied with a good spring of ribs, level topline with a gradual sloping croup, well balanced throughout.  Correctly angulated quarters, good tail carriage. Plenty of good quality coat. Covered the ring well with his smooth movement.  BOB pulled out all the stops in the group, pleased to award him G1

     Border Collie – Grad 3 (2a)      1 Warren’s Elthea Great Expectations   Very nice feminine bitch with a good head and nice foreface, expressive eyes, well set ears.  Neat clean shoulders nicely angulated.  Well bodied, good topline.  Correctly angulated quarters, neat hocks.  Carrying a good coat.  Moved soundly around the ring.        

Border Collie – Open 3 (0a)   Close decision   1 Davis Kinaway I Am Sir Matt For Jacmalis SHCM   Masculine dog well balanced throughout.  Strong head and foreface with a delightful expression, well set ears which he used well.  Good reach of neck, straight front with good bone.  Correct angulation fore & aft. Well sprung ribs, good width over the loins, firm topline which he held on the move. His effortless driving movement won him the class. BOB

Collie (Rough) – 4 (1a)   Close decision   1 Morley & Aikman Welanga Bush Tucker With Brookynut SHCM   Quality dog who excels in head, clean blunted wedge shape with a good flat skull, good parallels, lovely alert expression, small well set ears which he used well.  Enough neck, good front and well angulated laid back shoulders.  Good topline with slight rise over the loin. Well muscled hindquarters with well let down hocks.  Carrying a good quality coat.  Moved effortlessly around the ring.  BOB

Finish Laphund – Open  - 2 (1a)      Head’s Millermead Tundra Wild Rose   Strongly built bitch with good body ratio’s.  Broad head, defined stop, good muzzle. Dark expressive eyes, ears set well apart.  Medium neck leading into correctly angulated shoulders well laid back.  Good depth of brisket, nice straight back, short loin.  Strong well angulated quarters, high set tailed carried well, carrying a profuse jacked.  Moved steadily and soundly around the ring.  BOB     

German Shepherd Dogs – Grad – 3 (3a)     

German Shepherd Dogs – Open – 2 (1a)      1 Jones Lanarth Vanos Of Morolwg SHCM   This powerhouse of a dog is a favourite of mine, he has such great ring presence.  So masculine with such a strong head with correct proportions, dark eyes with an alert expression.  Good length of neck, well angulated laid back shouders, well off for bone. Good length of body, kept his firm topline on the move. Strong well angulated muscular quarters, well constructed throughout.  Covered the ring with his effortless powerful driving movement. BOB, pleased to award him G2     

Samoyed – Junior – 1(0a)   1 Prout’s Furzeland Devon Star   Nicely put together well balanced dog just a year old full of character.  Strong wedge shaped head, good broad skull & muzzle.  Good length of neck leading into well laid back angulated shoulders. Well bodied with nicely sprung ribs.  Well angulated muscular quarters with a good bend of stifle.  Plenty of coat which was well presented. Moved soundly around the ring.      

Samoyed – Open – 4(3a)   1 Gate’s Rosskaja Russian Roulette De Lunartico   Loved this boy, he has the most impressive head and appealing expression, wedged shaped, flat broad skull with a full muzzle and has that typical smile. Nicely arched neck, plenty of substance and so well balanced throughout.  Well laid back angulated shoulders, good depth of chest, well bodied, correctly angulated rear quarters   Good length of tail which he carried well. Moved effortlessly around the ring with drive. Carries a profuse quality jacket and was presented and handled to perfection.  BOB Pleased to award him G3     

Norweigian Buhund – Open Dog – 3 (0a)   1 Vines Ch Ailort Highlander At Parvodene JW SCHM   Masculine dog who was so well balanced.  Loved this boys head, broad wedge shaped head, medium muzzle, dark eyes and well placed ears.  Good neck, straight front, clean neat shoulders, good depth of chest.  Short compact body, correctly angulated backend.  Good tail set carried well, in good coat.  Moved with ease around the ring.  BOB

Norweigian Buhund – Open Bitch – 1 (0a) 1 Lambert’s Ch Bernegarden’s Reve Enka Av Sturtmoor (Imp Nor)   Lovely bitch who was so feminine and well proportioned throughout.  She has the most delightful head & dark expressive eyes.  Medium neck leading into correctly angulated forequarters. Short compact body, straight backed.  Moderately angulated quarters, high set tail carried well. Moved soundly around the ring.           

Collie (Smooth) – Junior – 3 (0a)   3 quality littermates with nothing to choose between them   1 Kinsey’s Sturtmoor Khaos of Kaswyn   This young lad is maturing nicely since I judged him as a puppy.  He is so well balanced and has a stunning profile.  He has the best of heads, so typical.  Clean blunt wedge, flat skull and a strong underjaw.  Dark expressive almond shaped eyes, good ears which he used well.  Arched neck, straight front, well angulated fore & aft.  Correct body proportions with a firm topline and a slight rise over the loin.  His free & easy movement is a joy to watch. BOB pleased to award him G4

ollie (Smooth) – Open – 2 (0a)      1 Kinsey’s Ryecombe Jovial Jasmine Of Sturtmoor   After going over this lovely bitch its easy to see where the last class got their construction from.  A soundly made bitch with a lovely headpiece, she has a most delightful expression. Good neck & front, well angulated shoulders, level back with a correct rise.  Strong well angulated quarters.  Moved well but was pipped for breed by her son whose movement was more fluid.

AVNSC Pastoral  – Open – 7 (2a)      1 Bales Balletcor Magicians Magic (IR Jun Ch CJW) – Welsh Corgi (Pem)   Loved this lad had such a typical foxy head, good width of skull,  good ear set which he used well.  Sturdy, well boned dog with well angulated laid back shoulders.  Medium length body, good spring of rib, he has a nice level topline & well angulated quarters.  Moved purposely round the ring, his delightful movement won him BAVNSC.

Lovely shape on this girl, moved soundly around the ring.  She must surely have a bright future.
