Northern Belgian Shepherd Dog Club

Breed: Best in Show

I was privileged to be appointed to judge BIS and subsequent awards at the NBSDC Championship show on 18th June 2016. Sincere thanks to the Committee for affording me this prestigious opportunity and for their unrivalled hospitality throughout.

The Continental breed specialist judges, Messrs Thevenon and Vandenbemden, sent through representatives of superb quality and it was my pleasure to fulfil the final judging of them.

Interestingly each BOB was an import to the UK. They were:

• BOB Groenendael, (B) Ch Furious Fuschia Du Bois Du Tot

• BOB Tervueren, (D) CH French Kiss van Moned with Domburg

• BOB Malinois (D) CH I'Chaos Flambards Du Domaine De Vauroux

• BOB Laekenois (D) From Laeken Paradis Livry

BIS : After much deliberation the Tervueren male Ch French Kiss van Moned with Domburg was my choice for BIS. In full bloom and immaculately presented his outline is undeniably BSD and his stance and showmanship demands attention. He doesn’t disappoint on being gone over or on being moved, a classic dog throughout that simply oozes quality. Deserving winner on the day.

RBIS / BOSIS : The Tervueren bitch, Corsini Charisma, called in to challenge as RBOB to the BIS winner. Very pretty youngster of just 18 months, my preferred type in a bitch being ultra-feminine, lovely proportions for age, I later learned she won her crown on the day. Well deserved.

BPIS : Only two puppies representing both long haired varieties came through from the breed classes. BPIS the Groenendael bitch Revloch Leather ‘n Lace of Woofhouse appealed more in balance and head planes over the slightly more substantial Tervueren

BVIS : Three varieties represented: Groenendael, Tervueren and Malinois. All had qualities I admire and decisions were close. I’ve rewarded highly both the Groenendael and Malinois in the past so this perhaps was my most difficult decision of the day. In the end it was to be the lovely Tervueren bitch Ch Corsini Chanel. Super outline on this 12 years young girl, alert and attentive stance and shown to advantage
