Monmouthshire Show Society Ltd Dog Section

 Monmouth Open Show – 27th August 2015     

My thanks to the officers & committee for the invitation to judge this well run show, their hospitality and to my efficient stewards Richard & Jill.  Thank you to the exhibitors for a lovely entry.     

Bearded Collies Open - 7 (3ab)      1 – Emmingham’s Fragglestone Forristar   Masculine 5yr old slate dog who was so well balanced. Good broad skull with excellent head proportions, nicely arched neck, well laid back correctly angulated shoulders. Level back with well sprung ribcage, strong well angulated muscled quarters, low set hocks, moved purposely around the ring with drive. Carrying a full harsh jacket which completed the picture.  Pleased to award him BOB was in my final consideration for a group place

Border Collies Junior – 2 (1ab)      1 - Carter’s Cartezz Cosmopoliton   Delightful 11mth old bitch with so much to like. Well put together with a lovely head & expression. Good front and bone, correctly angulated fore and aft.  Firm topline held on the move, coat coming nicely, good all round confirmation. Moved with drive around the ring.  Pleased to award her BPIB sure she is going to do very well in the ring.

Border Collies Grad – 2 (1ab)      1 - Carter’s Cartezz Summer Breeze   Loved this young lady, so well put together and so feminine.  Good head proportions, well defined stop, well set expressive eyes.  Good reach of neck, nice straight front, plenty of bone.  Good lay back of shoulders correctly angulated. Good body ratios perfectly balanced. Well angulated quarters with well let down hocks, good tailset & carriage.  Moved soundly around the ring, just needs a full jacket to complete the picture.     

Border Collies Open – 7 (4ab)      1 – Gregory’s Tonkory King Of The Road   A striking masculine dog with super type.  Well balanced throughout, strong head & foreface with a delightful expression, well set apart ears which he used well.  Good reach of neck, plenty of bone & substance.  Correctly angulated laid back shoulders, nice straight front, firm topline held on the move. Strong quarters with well let down stifle & hocks, moved around the ring with an effortless driving movement. Carrying a good quality coat, impressive young dog.  I was pleased to award him BOB & G3

3 – Williams Rull’s Red Finch     

German Shepherd Dog Grad – 3 (2ab)      1 – Stephens Brightmeadow Rock On Ruby   Impressive feminine young lady just 6mths. Correct head proportions, strong muzzle and the most appealing expression.  Good length of neck, correctly angulated fore & aft, good body proportions, firm topline, strong hocks with good pasterns.  Plenty of substance on this young lady.  Moved soundly around the ring. Was pleased to award her BP & PG3 Must surely have a bright future ahead.     

German Shepherd Dog Open – 3 (1ab)   2 top quality GSD’s   1 – Jones Larareth Vanos Of Morolwg   A masculine dog who has matured into a very impressive adult.  A powerhouse of a dog, not exaggerated, a strong honest dog who fills the ring with his presence. The strongest of heads well proportioned, clean cut broad skull, good stop, strong muzzle.  Correctly angulated quarters fore & aft, Good length of neck flowing into a firm back of a good length, good breadth over the loin. He is so well constructed and balanced throughout. Powered around the ring with drive, expertly handled.  Pleased to award him BOB & G2     

2 – Stephens Strco Stealing The Show RBOB     

Rough Collies Grad - 3 (1ab)   Two lovely ladies, quality puppy   1 – Morey Lynmead Amalie Is The Lace At Brookynut   What a sweetie so feminine and in such a good coat and condition.  Excellent blunted clean wedge shaped head with a good flat skull, correct head proportions.  Well set almond shaped eyes with the sweetest of expressions. Small ears which she used well. Nicely arched neck, well angulated sloping shoulders. Deep chest, nicely sprung ribs and a good height to length ratio with slight rise over the loins. Well angulated quarters, carrying a good quality sable & white coat.  Moved soundly around the ring.  Pleased to award her BOB was in my consideration for a group place     

2 – Flower’s Serenlas Keeping Faith – BPIB      

Rough Collies Open – 2 (0ab)   1 – Morley & Aikman Welanga Bush Tucker With Brookynut   Another quality tricolour dog excelling in head, lovely flat skull, clean wedge shaped head, expressive well shaped eyes.  Muscular neck, good front and bone, correct forehand angulation. Firm level back with slight rise over the loin.  Would prefer him slightly shorter in the back.  Well muscled hindquarters moved well but not quite as freely as the bitch.     

2 – Flower’s Serenlas Obsession     

Samoyed Open – 3 (1ab)   1 – Turner’s Lilryecontye Fire & Ice   Feminine 9mth old bitch with a lovely wedge shaped head with correct ear set, good eye set with an alert expression. Good neck, straight front, plenty of bone, nicely angulated laid back shoulders. Well bodied with a nice spring of rib. Well angulated quarters with a good bend of stifle. She was full of the joys of spring but when she settled moved well.  Pleased to award her BOB & BPIB     

2 – Turner’s Shining Moonbeam At Lilryecontye     

Smooth Collie Open – 6 (2ab)   Lovely quality class   1 – Kinsey’s Sturtmoor Khaos of Kaswyn   Outstanding 8mth old dog that will go a long way.  Excels in head, flat skull, clean blunt wedge, has the most delightful expression.  Correctly set ears which he used well.  Good length of neck, clean well angulated forequarters, straight front, good depth of chest for his age. Firm topline with a slight rise over the loin. Well angulated quarters with a good bend of stifle, well let down hocks which he used on the move. Lovely side profile, moved effortlessly around the ring extending well in front.  Pleased to award him BP, BOB & PG2

  Shetland Sheepdog Puppy – 3 (0ab)   1 & 2 are top quality puppies, a difficult decision   1 – Haensel’s Jontygray Midas Touch For Sherkarl   Stylish ultra feminine sable 8mth old bitch.  Refined well proportioned head with flat skull and cheeks, good ear & eye set giving a typical expression.  Well laid back angulated shoulders, level back with a gradual sloping croup.  Good breadth over the loin, neat well angulated quarters with a good turn of stifle, low set tail which she carried well, well coated.  Moved soundly round the ring.  Pleased to award her BP and was in my consideration for a group place. Pleased to award her BP     

2 – Greenhill’s Mohnesee Diamonds ‘N’ Pearls     

Shetland Sheepdog Junior - 2 (0ab)   1 - Greenhill’s Mohnesee Diamonds ‘N’ Pearls   Lovely 10mth old feminine Blue Merle carrying a wonderful coat.  Typical wedge shaped head with very expressive eyes, well set ears which she used well.  Sound throughout with good angulation fore & aft. Good depth of chest and nice topline.  Moved well around the ring better than in previous class.  A quality bitch beautifully presented.  

   2 – Clarke’s Darlington Dixie     

Shetland Sheepdog P Grad - 6 (4ab)   1 – Hateley’s Viewdale Mr Hilton   Well put together 2yr old masculine tricolour male. Delightful wedge shaped head with expressive almond eyes and correctly placed ears which he used well. Plenty of neck, good front and clean angulated shoulders. Straight back of a good length, well bodied, Strong rear end with plenty of muscle, carrying a good quality jacket.  Moved well around the ring.  Pleased to award him RBOB, just lost out to the bitch on maturity. Pleaded to award him RBOB

Shetland sheepdog Open – 7 (4ab)   1 – Greenhill’s Sommerville Blue Pearl At Mohnesee   Very feminine well presented blue merle 3yr old bitch with the most delightful refined head, typical wedge shaped and alert expression, lovely almond shaped eyes 1 clear blue & 1 brown.  Small ears which she used well.  Nicely arched neck, good front and clean well angulated shoulders.  Well bodied with a good spring of rib. Correct rear angulation, good tail carriage, covered the ring well with her smooth movement.  Pleased to award her BOB & G4.

AVNSC Pastoral Puppy – 2 (1ab)   1 - Wilson’s Jupiter’s-Dream Des Gardien’s De Cocagne To Chima - Belgian Shepherd Groenendael   Very stylish 10mth old boy full of quality & breed type.  Lovely chiselled head, good planes and the flattest of skulls, dark almond eyes with a typical Belgian expression, small ears which he used well.  Correct angulation fore & aft. Lovely length of neck, good tuck up, firm level topline.  Carrying a good jacket.  Moved well when he settled, quality boy pleased to award him BAVNSC P & PG4     

AVNSC Pastoral Open – 3 (2ab)   1 – Howe’s Ch Starvon Veni Vidi Vici SH CM - Swedish Vallhund   Striking male that took my breath away as soon as he walked in the ring.  Has matured into an outstanding  dog with super breed type. Excels in head with a clean cut blunt wedge, good stop with a well defined mask. He has the most appealing expression and medium ears which he used well.  Correctly angulated shoulders, plenty of substance, lovely deep chest, level back, well muscled angulated quarters.  Harsh coat with well defined harness markings.  He’s so sound and well balanced throughout.  His effortless powerful movement was a joy to watch.  Pleased to award him BAVNSC & G1     

AV Pastoral Puppy – 2 (0ab)   Some lovely corgi’s in these classes   1 – Langford Bwthyn Press release - Cardigan Welsh Corgi   Very smart young brindle & white lady who is interestingly the litter sister to my group winner, very similar.  Lovely foxy head with a good width of skull, good head proportions, large ears and expressive eyes. Well boned but remains feminine. Good depth of chest, well bodied, level topline held on the move. Good angulations fore & aft. Moved out well around the ring     

2 – William’s Blamorder Just Like Magic - Smooth Collie     

AV Pastoral Grad – 6 3ab)   1 – Siviter’s Rubegud Takin The Mick - Cardigan Corgi   A nice dog nearly 2 yrs old. Excels in head so typical, good ears and expressive eyes. Well boned with well padded feet.  Correct angulation fore & aft. Nice deep brisket, good length of body, level topline. Moved soundly around the ring.

AV Pastoral Open – 8 (5ab)   1 - Bale’s Balletcor Porschas Equinox Ir Jun Ch CJW15 CW15 - Pembrokshire Corgi   A nice bitch nearly 2 yrs old. Tyical foxy head with good proportions.  Well set expressive ears nice medium sized ears. Good neck, deep chest, well laid back angulated shoulders. Medium length body with good spring of rib. Well muscled quarters with a good bend of stifle. Would like her with a little less weight.  Moved smartly around the ring

Pastoral Group   A top quality group, very little between them.

Pastoral Puppy Group   4 top quality younsters, all with bright futures ahead of them.  

1 - Williams & James Bwthyn Headliner -  Cardigan Welsh Corgi   This young lad stole my heart he has such a typical foxy head with good size ears set well, and a delightful expression.  Sturdy, muscular, well boned with well laid back shoulders, has a good depth of chest for his age, good length of back, level topline & correctly angulated quarters. He is so well muscled and in the best of condition. His movement was a joy to behold, he moved freely around the ring extending well in the front.  Pleased to award him group 1, destined for the top.
