Hyde & District CA Open Show – 15/11/2015

Alaskan Malamutes

Puppy (2 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st. Lunn’s Malapaws All Black Magic.

A delightful 6 month old seal & white bitch who was well off for substance and wore the most fantastic harsh, stand off coat. Muzzle and skull still need to strengthen, as you would expect, but an overall sweet expression with not too much stop, nicely set ears and the darkest of eyes. Carries her tail a little tight but doesn’t detract from good overall proportions and a nice topline for such a young lady. Strong compact hocks giving good drive from the rear on the move, still just a little loose in front, but nonetheless a nice mover very unlucky to come up against my junior class winner in the BP Challenge.

Junior (2 Ent, 0 Abs)

1st. Ellis’ Chayo Classic Design

9 month old grey & white dog already giving an impression of strength and masculinity. Standing on tight feet he had plenty of substance and the correct harshness of coat. Typical expression with lovely small, well furred ears and a dark, obliquely set eyes. Good depth of muzzle and width of skull without being overdone. Good arch of neck leading into a strong sloping topline; overall nice proportions with good length of leg and correct tail set. Good front with strong front pasterns and well muscled rear. Full of character, he had a tendency to stand under himself when excited but his balance really showed on the move and it was his fluid, ground covering side-gait despite the ring size that earned him both BP & BOB. Delighted to hear he took WPG1 and BPIS, well deserved.

2nd. Lunn’s Malapaws Black Magic.

As above.

Post Graduate (3 Ent, 3 Abs)

Open (3 Ent, 2 Abs)

1st. Lunn’s Monikoona Fabulous Me Via Malapaws.

A mature, 5 year old grey & white bitch who is dam to my puppy class winner and is clearly passing on her substance. An appealing, kind expression with nice width of skull and correct almond shape eyes, although would prefer a shade darker. Nice arch of neck leading into a well laid back shoulder, she has a good depth of chest, nice spring of rib and is overall well balanced in proportions. Good feet and a tail carried in a beautiful waving plume on the move, I very much considered her for BOB but just felt the front action and extension in side gait more positive from the junior class winner on the day.
