Leonberger

Judge: Ms T Morgan (ROSSIMON)

My sincere thanks to all exhibitors for your support and for turning out your Leo’s in immaculate condition and in pretty good muscular condition too. There were one or two of beautiful type who were incredibly obese, so paid the penalty. The rain poured down just minutes before judging was to commence so we utilised the wet weather ring in the marquee and made the best of our space. Handling was very good throughout as was grooming/presentation. Just one incorrect mouth in the entry bodes well. Sportsmanship plays a vital role in the enjoyment of everyone involved in this wonderful sport, both winners and losers, and I am glad to say with the exception of one lone exhibitor, all were incredibly good sports. I make no apology for highlighting this issue as I have seen the dire consequences poor sportsmanship has had on other breed rings and absolutely refuse to tolerate it in or around my ring! I do not award prizes based on any dog’s win history, therefore ‘attempting’ to intimidate or humiliate by reeling off a list of wins is pretty futile! I judge the dogs before me on the day and place them in order of merit/virtue according to the KC breed standard. I stop short of naming the exhibitor because I would hope this is advise they could take on board; ‘You would do well to afford yourself some dignity, grace and good manners amongst your fellow exhibitors in the future’. Raining on other people’s parade with a card crumpling tantrum is NOT sportsmanlike conduct!

1st: NIALL, Mr & Mrs D & H & ROTHERY Mr & Mrs T Davenheath Forever Blue ------- Typey lad who moved freely despite being at that awkward phase in development, this can change on a daily or weekly basis in developing babies of large breeds, so is nothing to be overly concerned about. Nice head with dark eye of correct shape, correct mouth. Thick ear leather, set onto head correctly, strong neck leading into a decent shoulder, propped up on good bone and good feet. Overall a promising baby who is developing at a nice steady rate and presented very well.2nd: BROWN Mrs B Davenheath Feeling Lucky To Brenaljay

1st: TURNER HANDLING , Mrs K & FOLKES Mrs C Dacfolke Rhosyn---------Mouthwatering baby girl who was very much in show off mode. Rich red, mid to dark eye of good shape, correct mouth and thick ear leather set correctly onto skull. Her expression could melt stone! A lovely balance of outline for a 6 month baby, with good shoulders propped up on good bone and tight feet. A good topline (which is not always seen in 6 month old babies), lead to correct tail set and a moderately angled rear. She moved very well in all directions and presented a lovely balanced outline. She pressed hard for RBB today but gave way to maturity. Best Puppy in breed. She had great fun and showed her socks off again in the puppy group and gained a Group 4 placement in very strong company.2nd: BROWN Mrs B Davenheath Foxy Lady To Brenaljay

1st: COLE Mrs J Simden Guardian Angel ---------A beautiful feminine lass who is correct to standard in all departments. Lovely headpiece with a dark well shaped eye, correct mouth, thick ear leather placed correctly into skull. An arched strong neck leading into a good shoulder. Her front is of good width, propped up by good bone on tight feet. Nice spring of rib and strong coupling, good topline leading to a correct tailset. Her rear quarters are very well muscled with a nice moderate turn of stifle! She did not put a foot wrong on the move, very clean coming, going and in sidegait and she always put herself four square without any manipulation at all. She is not the showiest girl, which I am sure can lead to her being overlooked at times, but she is difficult to fault. She feels every bit as good underhand as her balanced outline and soundness promises. A very worthy Best Bitch She scored over the male in rear angulation and eye shape to take a very worthy BEST OF BREED2nd: 5587 DARLING Miss C Ammolitegold Braken --------A lovely mature lady who is very typey, well put together with a nice headpiece, dark eye of correct shape. 1st: 5593 LIND, Miss J M & WALKER Mrs R Condalf Bubbilicious --------A lovely typey lady with a beautiful headpiece. Dark, well shaped eyes, correct mouth and thick ear leather set onto skull well. Strong neck with moderate shoulder layback, decent width of front propped up on good bone with tight feet. Carrying quite a roll over her shoulder, otherwise very nice in outline with moderate angle to the rear. She moved quite well. Was carrying quite a bit of excess weight which cost her dearly in the bitch line up, her stablemate paid a high price for the same reason in OD. This is a household that obviously makes great pies !!!2nd: 5588 DARLING Miss C Ammolitegold Chicca Coco
