Thank you for such a wonderful entry, amazing depth of quality in many of the classes, especially Junior & Limit bitch. In my judging book I graded each exhibit for my own personal records and wrote any major faults down too. I had my first Irish 50 years ago and love the breed so today was a real treat, finding so many quality dogs was great and in some classes I was spoilt for choice. I was looking for that true Irish head type and melting expression, together with correct angulation and flowing lines, but with the strength required to enable a setter to work all day and movement to prove they could. My winners had this is spades, however several others had bad mouths , poor movement and/or a lack of forequarter angulation and layback of shoulders.

1st GWENDARIFF PS I LOVE YOU (MRS S E EDWARDS) Excellent type, fabulous head shape and expression, well off for bone, super angulation front and rear. Correct overall make and shape, in good coat and sound mover.

2nd FERNSTART SONGWRITER (MRS C E TORPY) Loved his outline and overall make and shape. Correct angulation, coat and everything right, just needs to grow on and strengthen. Sound mover.

1st DEVACOTT TEMPTATION TO CLONAGEERA (MRS P J, R & MR & MRS D RUTHERFORD, JUDGE & BREND) Excellent Type. Excelled in head, eye, neck, angulation and outline. Super bone and shape but still a racy Irish. Excellent coat and mover. BPD.

1st KERRYDOWN ONE MAN (MRS G R PARTRIDGE) Excellent type. Fabulous head with that melting look and work to give a true Irish expression. So well made, excelled in angulation front and rear, overall make, shape, strength and bone, lovely depth of chest. In super coat of correct colour and texture. Wonderful mover who kept his topline on the move, just flowed round the ring. Stood away in this class and competed at the top level to take Res Dog CC.

2nd GWENDARIFF JUSTIN THYME (MRS G HYSLOP) Very good type, fabulous head and expression, correct neck and topline, would prefer a little more front angulation, excellent overall make and shape. Sound mover.

3rd SIOCHANNA CELTIC LORD OF KONAKAKELA (MRS P & MISS S HARRIS)

1st BRABROOK SHAZALAZAZOO (MR A J & MRS B A DRINKWATER) Excellent type, mature dog with fabulous outline. Superb head type, flowing from head to tail with correct angulation, strength but with style. Superb on the move.

2nd CASKEYS MISCHIEF OF STYLERSETTS JW (MR K & MRS LR MACAULAY) Another with excellent type, super shape, coat, colour and movement, not quite the overall size and quality of the winner.

1st SIOCHANNA CELTIC LORD OF KONAKAKELA (MRS P & MISS S HARRIS) Very good for type, outline and overall make and shape. Sound mover.

2nd GWENDARIFF THYME BOMB AT JACWILINS (MR W J & MRS J S WILLIS) Good type, bigger and not so racy as winner. Sound mover, in full coat.

3rd ROMARNE CLARK GABLE JOINS ANLORY (MR N & MISS J NAYLOR & MORRISON)

1st GWENDARIFF THE BIG ATRAXION JW (MR F R & MRS A M MEADOWS) Superb shape and angulation. Loved his head type, melting expression, neck flowed into shoulders and topline so well. Excellent bone, feet and short hocks. Excellent overall make and shape, good depth of chest and in full coat, so sound on the move.

2nd GWENDARIFF THE RINGMASTER (MRS L C SAVAGE) So like his brother, splitting hairs between these two, the above comments apply. Shame they both didn’t go through to the next class as this boy took second easily.

1st GWENDARIFF THE PINK PANTHER (MRS S E EDWARDS) Excellent type, see he is a third brother and pipped second to win here, what a fab trio. Gorgeous head and expression, flowing lines. Excellent make and shape, superb angulation, topline, and coat to finish the picture. Excellent movement.

Limit – Dog Entries: 16 Absentees: 0 All five placed were excellent for type, the rest of the class were disappointing for a class of this standing.

1st GWENDARIFF DR PEPPER AT KESPAS (MR K & MRS P STOCKTON) Just gorgeous, took my eye on the first run around with his fabulous type, side gait and presence. All male but with excellent work to his head, lovely eye and kind expression. Superb outline, depth of chest, angulation, short hocks and flowing topline and tail. Strength with style and a fabulous coat and colour to go with it. So sound on the move, looked like he could go all day. Great pleasure to give him the Dog CC which I was told later was his 3rd, congratulations.

2nd EMBER RED HOT CHILLIPEPPER OF QUENSHA (IMP SWE) (MR R P, MR A C & MRS A H BOTT, ALLEN & MORGAN) Another beautifully made Setter. Gorgeous head, outline, coat, overall construction and movement. Unlucky to meet winner on top form.

3rd CLONAGEERA KINROSS LOVE BAROLO (IMP USA) (MRS P RUTHERFORD)

1st SH CH GWENDARIFF WHIPPERSNAPPER JW (MR A & MISS D STEWART & RITCHIE-SMITH) Just gorgeous. These two boys were fabulous in all respects. Excellent for type, construction, coat, presentation and movement. Really splitting hairs to separate them.

1st SH CH GWENDARIFF ROCKIN ROBIN JW (MRS S E EDWARDS) Excellent type and wearing well. So typical of this kennel, lovely head, expression, construction, coat and overall quality with coat and sound movement to go with it.

2nd LOSKERAN DREAM MAKER SHCM (MRS J A BUCHAN) Another excellent dog with many of the qualities of the winner. Lovely head and overall shape, coat etc but not quite the angulation of the winner but excellent movement none the less.

2nd TARANDELL THORNTON'S DESIRE (MRS J A BUCHAN) Good type. Placed in junior and yearling but not the maturity of winner here.

Minor Puppy – Bitch Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st GWENDARIFF WE'LL REMEMBERU ( MR P & MRS D MILBY & STEWART-RITCHIE) Excellent type, and I will remember her. So poised for one so young and so well made too. Prettiest of heads, lovely shape, construction and coat coming well. Flowing movement which just got better each time she came in the ring. BPB and Best Puppy on her final run around with the more mature male pup as she just stole my heart with her grace and style.

2nd WYLDFIRE DERINA (MRS F J CURTIS) Good type, needs more confidence. Good for shape and overall quality. Coat needs to settle as very wavy at the moment. Sound mover as she relaxed.

Puppy – Bitch Entries: 7 Absentees: 0 Five excellent puppies placed here, so promising for the future, and the first four were outstanding. So little between them. All were super for heads, expression, shape, angulation and overall quality and movement. Splitting hairs to place them on the day, so just my personal preference placed them this way.

1st CLOANGEERA WALK WITH ME TO SUMMERGATE (MRS H GRACIE) Superb shape, excellent head type and expression, excellent angulation, topline, overall shape and coat to finish the picture. Excelled on the move to take the class on the final run around.

2nd KERRYDOWN OCTAVIA (MRS G R PARTRIDGE) Loved this girl when I judged her before, sister to res dog CC and has many of his qualities. So correct for type, style, coat, head and expression and overall breed type. Just prancing a bit in front with excitement which tipped the scales to the winner on the final run.

3rd CLONAGEERA LOVE IS REAL (MRS P RUTHERFORD)

2nd SANDSTREAM SUMMER BREEZE (MISS S WATERTON) Excellent type, well made all through with pleasing head, good overall make and shape and sound movement. Unlucky in junior to meet the quality first five.

In excellent coat and showed her socks off to take the next class and Res Bitch CC.

2nd BRINARA VANITY FAIR JW (MRS B & MRS L BERRY & MORRIS) Another excellent bitch for shape, type angualtion and overall quality. Super sound mover. Close up to winner.

1st GWENDARIFF SODA POP TO WYNJILL (MRS JE HOLLEY) Fabulous bitch. Type, elegance, strength, construction, coat all excellent. Loved her head type, overall make and shape, angulation, short hocks, and driving movement and super side gait too. In full coat, presented to perfection and quality from head to tail. Just her day,Bitch CC and then out moved her brother to take BOB.

2nd SUTERESETT MISS CURIOUS ABOUT HENALEAS JW (MRS J A & MR PJ HUMPHREYS) Second and third are two more wonderful bitches for type, style and soundness. Full of breed type, so close together.
