Thank you to all the exhibitors for such a wonderful quality entry and so few absentees. After all these years you all know I like a good oblong shaped, traditional looking Sussex , with those gold highlights that define their colour and that sealskin coat so typical of the breed; and there were so many of them to choose from, I was spoilt for choice. My class winners were all fabulous examples of the breed and choosing those to take top honours was difficult, especially in males. My final choices were made on coat, colour and texture, as all winners were constructed like true Sussex and were the right shape and moved typically and soundly. The Best of Breed ticked all my boxes and represented Sussex in Style in the big ring.

Excellent make and shape, fabulous head and expression, correct angulation front and rear. Super coat and texture, just a little dark in colour. Super sound mover.

2nd MRS A L MOON - DEANWAY STORM WARNING

Lovely boy, showing his age and coat a little woolly. Lovely head and expression and well made all through, Another who moved really well.

3rd MRS C GASHER - NARDDAMWAY MACK THE KNIFE

Completed a trio of super veteran males, best of shapes, loved his head and expression, excellent mover, shame he gnaws on stones!

Fabulous, from his excellent head and expression to the tip of his tail, would have taken him home. Just right for length to height ratio, super bone and substance, correct angulation. Excellent firm level topline with correct tail carriage. Glorious coat, colour and texture. Excellent on the move, just wonderful and well deserved BP and Res CC.

2nd MRS S LUCKIN - SOVAROMA STRANGELY BROWN

Such a naughty boy, gave his mum a hard time, which is a shame as when settled showed off his good overall make and shape.

Excellent make and shape and length to height ratios. Loved his head and expression, super coat and texture but a little dark, well off for bone and substance, excellent mover.

2nd MRS G & MR J SHANKLAND - SPRINGCURL PINOT NOIR TO NYRRELA

He is gorgeous but having one of his naughty days. Excelled in coat colour and texture, Wonderful head and expression, super shape and breed type, moved well when settled.

3rd MRS L HUNTER - SPRINGCURL MERLOT

Another lovely boy who was unlucky to meet those in front of him.

1st MRS T ARNOLD - TREVALLISSE MR NICE GUY

Interestingly gave his litter sister the Post grad bitch class. He excelled for coat and colour, superb head type, great shape and excellent movement, could have been a little taller but his overall breed type won him the class.

2nd MRS S & MR S GRAVES - NORRISS NORTHERN WIZARD

Very close up to winner, a little feminine but a super shape. Coat a little dull. Excellent mover.

3rd MRS S J WAY - NORRISS NORTHERN COLERIDGE FOR SHUVICK

A big square Sussex, lacking bone and substance, Lovely head and expression, sound mover.

His coat and colour was the best of the day, as I told his owner a year ago, perfect and prized beyond rubies. Love his head, expression, breed type and style, super mover just a tad square for me in the final challenge.

2nd MRS G SAMPSON - RANGATIRA IVANHO

Lovely old fashioned Sussex, superb head, shape, construction, bone, substance and movement. Coat too dark which just lost him top spot in this class, a very close decision.

3rd MR & MRS CADWELL - JUBILWELL PROPER JOB

Superb youngster who has it all there, just needs to mature to complete the picture. Excellent for size, shape, size and movement, just lost out to the mature adults.

Excellent dog, loved his head and expression, correct shape, coat colour, texture and presentation. Super breed type, correct height to length ratio, topline and tail carriage. Lovely bone and substance, correct angulation and showed and handled well. Just lost out on top honours, very close to R CC.

2nd MR C B & MRS V I WAKEFIELD - SH CH/ NED /BEL CH JULIUS OF TONISPADA AT NORRISS (IMP BEL)

Love this boy, so close to winner in all respects, excelled on the move and has excellent breed type. On the day, his coat was not at its best which was the deciding factor.

3rd MR J & MRS P PERKINS - SH CH QUINTIC THE FARMER

Another super Sussex, Excellent for shape, colour and coat, just not moving at his best today.

1st MRS S E VOWLES - SH CH JUBILWELL BEAST OF BODMIN AT VOBROOK

What can I say, he made my heart sing as soon as he came in the ring. I just hoped he moved as well as he looked and he did. Classic head and expression, superb golden highlights, perfect size, shape and bone and substance, coat in excellent condition. Correct height to length ratio, level topline, correct movement and tail carriage with a happy wag to go with it. Delighted to give him the CC and BOB and he did the breed proud in the group, congratulations on a wonderful specimen of the breed.

Super bitch that I have liked from a puppy. Gorgeous head, overall make and shape and angulation. A really sturdy Sussex who moved so well. Correct height to length ratios, wonderful coat colour, to be critical, her front legs could be a tad longer.

2nd MRS S LUCKIN - TAWNYKA HAZELNUT WHIRL

Another very nice bitch, good shape, size, coat and movement, close up to winner.

3rd MR J & MRS E CHURCHILL - PINDANI BLUEBELL

Loved her head and expression and overall make and shape. She has weak pasterns, which spoil her front, but these can tighten with exercise and age. Sound mover.

Another lovely Sussex, really well made all through and many of the attributes of the winner. Conversely, a tad small, but beautifully made and a super mover.

3rd MR A & MRS V WATTS - STOWERIDGE STRIKE IT LUCKY

Completed a trio of super Sussex ladies, but was not showing herself off to best advantage today.

Loved this girl as a youngster and she has matured into a first class bitch. Best of heads and expressions, a true old fashioned Sussex, great for bone, substance, length to height ratio, overall shape and excellent movement. She could have won in any of the forty years I have had Sussex and today was her day, delighted to give her the CC. Just lost out to the male on coat colour in the final challenge.

2nd MRS V BENNETT - SH CH SOVAROMA RUBY TUESDAY

Another lovely bitch, so well made all through and super sound on the move too. Just preferred head type of winner but very close and she thoroughly deserved Res CC.

3rd MRS L HUNTER - GLENBROWS PATIENCE AT SPRINGCURL

Not the type or shape of the winners, carried her tail to high and moving too fast for a true Sussex action.
