BITCHES
Thank you for another wonderful entry, once again bitches did not disappoint, having judged dogs recently I found greater quality in depth amongst the girls and some outstanding ones amongst them. I was delighted with my final line-up and was once again spoilt for choice, many worthy of a green card. In general throughout the classes I did find some otherwise correctly made girls who lacked femininity, gender should be instantly recognisable, some I would have struggled to identify as the fairer sex in mixed classes. Some beautiful bitches lacked coat on the day and others disappointed on the move. Not in the habit of awarding top honours to youngsters as I believe a Golden should be at their best in later years, I could look no further than the winner of Junior, she completely filled the eye, a typical unexaggerated and balanced Golden, typifying the breed standard and moving with style and purpose, another from the same clever yet modest breeder that I last awarded a bitch CC to in 2012, this bitch is in my opinion even better and I predict a great future, coat and other factors permitting.
Veteran Bitch (11, 4 Absent)
1. McDonald’s FLYNGALEE WHISPERING JW ShCM. She was first in a competitive Open class last time I judged and she remains all quality, superbly presented in full bloom and in hard condition. So easy on the eye, balanced feminine head, gentle expression and good length of neck and shoulder layback, excellent angulation all through, larger framed with good length of leg, cat-like feet and good bone, straight front and rear, so well balanced overall, with a wagging tail and obvious will to please, she stands four square and just flows on the move, which displaying power and drive, easily the best mover in this class, at one with her handler. Unlucky not to have gained her crown, but on this form it isn’t yet out of reach.
2. Pounds-Longhurst’s MOSSBURN DON’T MIND ME JW ShCM. Honest ultra-feminine mid gold, not a glamorous one, but so very soundly made, stands four square with good length of leg on good bone and feet, well-proportioned head and sweet expression, she has adequate length of neck which remains hidden by a profuse wavy double coat, good forechest and ribs well sprung, level topline, correct tailset and good bend of stifle, expertly handled, she also moved effortlessly, freely and truly.
3. Wight & Grimmett’s CH HAYDENE IN LOVE WITH TAFUTA ShCM. Not in her best coat, gave her the Res CC last time I judged and pleased to see she went on quickly to gain her title, dark golden, effervescent with a look at me attitude hard to ignore, beautifully constructed all through with an appealing head and expression, ever alert dark eyes and well placed ears, lack of coat made her appear throaty, but very good forechest and well sprung ribs, level topline and good bend of stifle, stands on quality bone and feet, movement straight and true.
Minor Puppy Bitch (14, 2 Absent)
A competitive class with some very promising quality puppies present, some of whom left cardless, though no less deserving of a place.
1. Turner’s AUPA DOLCETTO DI AMILONE (IMP). 8 month old cream, although lacking coat, she was easily the best mover, sound and level, absolutely flowed around the ring effortlessly with free stride, testament to her excellent construction, very well made all through with a pleasing well shaped feminine head, good length of neck, free standing wagging her tail, straight front and rear, deep brisket, level topline, short coupled, good bend of stifle, lots to like.
2. Grimmett & Grimmett’s HAYDENE FANCY THAT. Fell for this one, just 6 months old, darker golden, displaying typical Golden temperament, biddable and willing, she also stood out for her eye-catching outline, so very well angulated front and rear and well balanced, short coupled body, excellent length of neck and shoulder layback, straight front and rear, stands on cat-like feet, lovely feminine well balanced head, dark pigment, moved joyfully, purposefully and soundly, the epitome of a true Golden, liked her a lot.
3. Morss’ XANTHOS NYMPHADORA TONKS. Instantly eye-catching, real quality pale golden with a most appealing head and expression, very good neck and shoulders, well angulated all through, level topline and well ribbed back, stands on good bone and feet, beautifully presented and dripping in well-furnished coat, had thought she would be my winner when she stepped into the ring, but moves very soundly coming and going and freely in profile just found her hind action somewhat exaggerated on the day, which cost her the class.
Puppy Bitch (13, 3 Absent)
The first three in this class stood out for me, all of pleasing type, soundly made, portraying scope, overall balance and good length of leg.
1. Mitchell’s LEGROVE ZAKYNTHOS. Eye-catching, attractive and correctly made feminine 10 month old, she moved with such freedom and drive, and activity. Of pleasing type, well presented, lovely disposition and outlook, intelligent dark eye and matching pigment, good neck and shoulders, deep brisket, level topline and tailset, ribs well sprung. Best Puppy Bitch, sadly in the challenge for Best Puppy though I thought her construction superior to the dog, she couldn’t quite get her act together in the challenge, in retrospect a call to the referee might have given her a chance to regain her composure. A new one to me, but a lovely quality youngster, I wish her luck.
2. HAYDENE FANCY THAT
3. XANTHOS NYMPHADORA TONKS
Junior Bitch (19, 6 Absent)
An outstanding and very competitive class, some real top quality bitches here.
1. Smyth’s KADAKA KUPCAKE. Saw her as a young puppy and thought she was a star in the making, seeing her again at close quarters confirmed she is already something special. Fits the standard in all respects, absolute symmetry, effortless ground covering action, so straight and true with her head held high, calm and biddable temperament, just can’t stand incorrectly on quality bone and cat-like feet, correctly proportioned and well balanced head, melting expression from dark eyes, good length of neck, faultless and harmonious construction, correct topline and tailset, deep through the heart, well presented and sympathetically handled, having recently gained her Junior Warrant, she can only get better and better and my feeling on the day was that someone would have to give her that first CC and it might as well be me! I hope she goes on to gain her crown, a real pleasure to judge her in such fantastic form, she is all that a Golden should be. CC.
2. Harding’s PANDREFT GRACE KELLY FOR EVENINGHILL. Not overshadowed by 1, another quality bitch of excellent type, scopy mid gold, well-constructed all through and so well balanced, beautiful head well proportioned, with sweet expression, excellent upper arm, shoulder and hindquarter angulation, straight front and rear, shoulders well laid, level topline and tailset, presenting a super outline, a quality girl who moved very soundly and freely, quietly handled to advantage, must have a bright future, liked her very much.
3. Grigg’s MULFIELD PEACH BLOSSOM. Pale golden, but another so very well constructed, similar comments apply, of pleasing type, head slightly heavier than 1 & 2, but nevertheless well-proportioned and with a feminine outlook, well sprung ribs and short coupled, another presenting a very pleasing outline, very correctly made, moves straight and true and with extension and drive, though would benefit from carrying a little less weight.
Yearling Bitch (18, 2 Absent)
1. Beer’s TASHSHEEN MARTINIQUE JW. Compactly made, smaller in stature, although I preferred the overall type of 2, she was in full bloom, in well-presented dark golden coat and moved so absolutely truly and soundly in all directions, maintaining a balanced outline, well-proportioned head, dark eye and neat ears, quality bone and correctly angulated all through, stands four square on cat-like feet, straight front and hind limbs, level topline and well sprung ribs, hard to fault.
2. Crick’s GOLDLYN GIVE AND TAKE. Free standing feminine mid gold of real quality, super outline and construction, loved her type and overall attitude, wagging her tail, most appealing well-proportioned head and intelligent expression, very good length of neck and correct shoulder layback, level topline and tailset, deep brisket and well sprung ribs, moved with activity and freedom of stride, not quite the furnishings and bloom of 1 today, but a future star, just love her!
3. Shepherd’s WYLLOH FAIRYTALE DREAM AT PARLICKVIEW. Darker golden, not in her best coat, but it magnified her super outline and overall correct construction, lovely feminine well-proportioned head and appealing expression from dark eyes, good pigment, straight front and rear, short coupled, level topline and tail set, moved powerfully and truly with good length of stride, with maturity should go far.
Undergraduate Bitch (16, 2 Absent)
1. KADAKA KUPCAKE
2. GOLDLYN GIVE AND TAKE
3. MULFIELD PEACH BLOSSOM
Graduate Bitch (11, 2 Absent)
1. Mell’s MELOAK LILY THE PINK. Pale golden, not immediately eye-catching as she wasn’t in her best coat, but what an outstanding bitch to go over, oh so soundly and strongly made and her movement so powerful, effortless, straight and true, so correctly constructed in every respect with good length of leg, enabling her to stand freely four square on quality bone and cat-like feet, so very well balanced all through, beautiful feminine well-proportioned head and alert expression from dark eyes, good length of neck, dead level topline and tailset, happy disposition, not overdone in any way, straight out of the top drawer, another outstanding girl.
2. GOLDLYN GIVE AND TAKE
3. List’s HAYDENGOLD AMAZING GRACE (AI) (IMP Aus). Darker golden of pleasing type, very well made all through presenting a super outline, very good shoulders, topline and tailset, straight front and rear, just preferred the head and expression of 1 & 2, though she is ultra-feminine with the darkest of eyes and pigment, moved superbly, absolutely flowed around the ring with purpose and drive, well presented and handled, liked her a lot.
Post Graduate Bitch (20, 7 Absent)
1. Morss’ XANTHOS GIVENCHY JW. Ultra feminine pale golden, so eye-catching, stood out for me as soon as she entered the ring, another dripping in coat and beautifully presented, she fills the eye standing, profile movement is free flowing, happy, active and level, hind movement is accurate, though disappointingly she was toeing in slightly coming towards. However, her overall quality shone through and pleased to find it was she to whom I awarded Best Puppy on my last Ch Show appointment, she has fulfilled her early promise, most lovely head and expression with dark pigment, stands so squarely on straight limbs, presenting a very balanced outline, short coupled and maintaining her level topline and tailset, a glamorous young lady, expertly handled,.
2. Muncey’s KENNELRIDGE FRANCESCA. Another feminine beautifully constructed bitch, in gleaming golden coat, loved her well-proportioned head, good depth and width of muzzle, dark eye and pigment, good neck and shoulders, excellent angulation front and rear, well off for bone, quality all through, moved soundly and accurately, pressed 1 hard and another deserving of top honours, an unexaggerated typical Golden, very well handled and presented, liked her a lot.
3. Cook’s CALAROSE OUT OF THE BLUE. Caught the eye initially, free standing four square and handled to advantage, more substantially made all through, but so correct in all departments, well-proportioned head, dark eye and pigment, good neck and shoulders, deep through the heart, straight front and rear, correct topline and tailset, movement straight and true, covering the ground easily, another top quality girl.
Limit Bitch (22, 8 Absent)
Very impressed with the overall movement in this class, some quality bitches present and most so very soundly made, really splitting hairs at the end.
1. Rains’ GUNHILLS KINKY BOOTS. Larger framed yet feminine mid gold, expertly presented in full double coat absolutely gleaming, not as well angulated as some, but quality all through, well proportioned feminine head, muzzle wide and deep, dark eye and pigment, good length of neck, balanced and short coupled, moves so correctly and soundly in all directions, free flowing maintaining her level topline and overall outline with tail well carried, quality bone and tight feet, soundly and strongly made, very well handled.
2. Douthwaite & Wharfe’s GRACEWOOD KERFUFFLE JW. A real favourite of mine, exudes everything Golden, standing so four square and full of personality, workmanlike and unexaggerated, strongly made yet feminine, she moves so accurately and strongly with joy and lengthy stride, attentive to handler with an alert intelligent expression from her dark eyes and well balanced head, compactly made and maintaining her level topline and tailset. Unfortunately not yet in her best coat or would have been in strong contention for top honours, being dark golden this was to her disadvantage, but I still love her!
3. Tuck’s TAMSBROOK TIMOTAE. Another ultra-feminine girl, much quality, so very correctly made and flowed around the ring, well presented cream coat, super outline, everything flowing, lovely balanced head, appealing expression, very good neck and shoulders, length of upper arm and front angulation, matched by equally good hindquarters and moved so truly and soundly holding her topline and with correct tail carriage, another whom I like so much, just didn’t have enough red cards.
Open Bitch (9, 3 Absent)
1. Vernon’s GRACELEIGH OLYMPIA. Cream of larger stature, but so feminine, very well made all through, standing four square with a wagging tail, sympathetically handled. In her prime, presented in super coat and hard condition, head of pleasing proportions, another super bitch to go over, so soundly and correctly made with quality bone and cat-like feet, good neck and shoulders, deep through the heart and well sprung ribs, short coupled, straight front and rear, maintaining her level topline and tailset on the move, which she did so soundly and strongly, with freedom and drive. Another destined for the top.
2. Lane & Ridyard-Lane’s KULAWAND SILVER SHADOW. Very well balanced feminine girl presented in full double coat, not overdone in any way, harmoniously and correctly constructed all through, balanced head, good neck and shoulders, level topline and correct tailset, short-coupled, well ribbed, straight limbs and cat like feet, moves so soundly and freely from all angles, deserves her ttile.
3. Dunbar & Dunbar’s CH LINIRGOR MIMI JW. Another favourite of mine, unfortunately she had injured her mouth in a recent accident, looking at this point for potential top honours cost her the class today, I do hope this heals as she is such a beautifully constructed eye-catching girl, free standing wagging her tail, ultra-feminine, beautiful head, very well balanced and angulated all through, displaying biddability and will to please, moves superbly absolutely free-flowing with activity and drive. A worthy Champion, whom I have done well for in the past.
Good Citizen Bitch (8)
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, along came this class with two beautiful bitches in serious contention for top honours.
1. Pounds-Longhurst’s MOSSBURN EVA MINDFOOL JW ShCM. In full bloom and so very well presented and handled, today was her day, another beautiful ultra-feminine pale golden with a most beautiful well-proprtioned head and melting expression from dark eyes, super neck and shoulder layback, correctly angulated all through and not overdone in any way, straight when viewed from front and rear, short coupled and well ribbed, deep through the heart, stands very four square on quality bone and cat like feet, dripping in coat, well feathered, moves like a train with freedom and drive so straight and true and with correct tail carriage, most eye-catching, just dipped her topline slightly in the challenge, which cost her top honours today. Res CC.
2. Aulton’s WINNATTS VERONNA JW. A feminine cream girl, not in her best coat today, but will trouble the best when in full furnishings for her spectacular powerful level movement cannot be ignored with dead level topline and correct tail carriage, so truly and soundly made, short coupled and well balanced, lovely feminine head with soft expression from dark eyes, good length of neck, correct shoulder and upper arm, deep through the heart, stands very four square on cat-like feet, in hard condition, very well handled, have done her well before and am sure her day will come.
3. Riley’s WYLLOH MONETS GARDEN. Another feminine girl with a most beautiful head and melting expression, darkest of pigment and eyes, good length of neck, well laid shoulders and good length of upper arm, equally good bend of stifle, level topline though a little long in the loin which makes her appear slightly unbalanced, moves very soundly coming and going and freely in profile.
