Alaskan Malamutes

I would like to thank the committee for this, my first CC appointment. I would like to thank my stewards, Mrs Hindle & Mrs Waddington, who ran the ring with such proficiency. Thank you to the exhibitors, for such a good entry on a weekday & for accepting my decisions with grace, which made for such a nice ringside atmosphere. I was pleased in general with my exhibits, my concerns were, as they have been before, the number of incorrect bites and incorrect tails and temperaments need to be watched in such a powerful large breed, socialisation is key. An observation that I was disappointed to see, was the number of overweight dogs, this is an athletic working breed, that should carry no excess weight and be well muscled.

Puppy Dog: 8 entries 1 absent

1st – Atherton’s Casiat Ombre Del Buio. 11 months old. A strong broad headpiece with correct bulky muzzle. Good bite. Lovely eye shape & set. Good pigment. Correct ear placement. Strong arched neck. Well off for bone. Perfectly proportioned body, good depth of chest, with good length of leg, large tight feet. Correct moderate angulations front & rear with a broad thigh, strong hocks & nice short strong pasterns. Good tailset & carriage, although he did hold it tighter when moving. Beautiful correctly textured coat. Excelled on the move, where his perfect foot placement, powerful reach & drive, whilst holding his topline, was a joy to watch. One to watch for the future. BP
