Great Danes

I would like to thank the committee for their invitation to Judge and their hospitality, my Steward for her help and assistance, and the exhibitors for giving me the pleasure of going over their dogs.

Unfortunately due to a Breed Club Show and a Championship show this same weekend, entries had suffered. However the quality was high in those that did attend.

J (2, 1a) 1st Lindeefay She’s So Lovely, and her name certainly suited her. 17m fawn b/m bitch, stood alone. Balanced overall outline, although little bum high at present. Beautiful head and eye with quizzical expression, shoulder well laid back, good bone and feet, nice depth to chest, ribs well sprung, topline will improve with maturity, good croup and hind angulation, with width to second thigh. Moved out well and kept her topline on the move. A very promising youngster.

PG (3, 1a) 1st Ebonory Cromcreucht for Yacanto, nearly 2 year old Black dog in simply superb condition, well muscled with absolutely gleaming coat. Large boy of lovely type, totally masculine, and full of dash and dare. Strong, expressive head, well arched neck into well laid back shoulders, good chest – but needs to drop still further which will come with time, good firm topline, well angulated and muscled hind quarters and second thigh. Moved effortlessly, could have gone all day. This dog oozes quality, but is very raw at the moment, and the larger dogs do take longer to mature and come into their own. Pushed very hard for BOB, look forward to seeing this exhibit when he is mature. 2nd Cheney Good Out of Evil with Bellouste. Lovely 21m Harlie bitch, not the biggest, but well marked and beautifully balanced. Strong head, well arched neck into good front assembly, well off for bone and good feet, ribs well sprung, good croup and tail set, well angulated behind with a good width of thigh. Unfortunately lost her topline on the move, and would benefit from muscling up all round. Very promising.

O (1) 1st Cheney Justice Has Been Done For Bellouste, 21m Harlie male, litter brother to above. Real showman. This well marked male is not the biggest, but he has a balanced outline, and is totally masculine with plenty of dash and dare. Lovely strong head with quizzical expression and dark eye, well arched neck of good length, shoulder angulation and front assembly correct, great depth to chest and well sprung rib, well boned and another with good catlike feet, correct topline which he kept on the move, well angulated hindquarters. Despite his young age, this dog is quite mature and very ‘together’ – especially when compared to the others, which definitely worked to his advantage today. Moved well. Another quality dog who just didn’t stop showing, BOB and G1.
