Flat Coated Retrievers

Thank you for such a lovely entry, I thoroughly enjoyed judging these lovely characters.

(J) 5 (1 abs)

1 Bellamy’s Hopevalley Morning Surprise of Brohillbarley 1 and 2 very different but both appealed. Balanced, compact well bodied bitch. Nicely angulated shoulders and well bent stifles with short hocks enabled reachy driving movement. Straight front and neat feet but preferred the head of the bitch in 2nd place.

2 Larner’s Culmquill Christmas Eve

3 Conner’s Gemswin Starman

1 RBOB Rudin’s Suford Gentiana Heavier more substantial bitch, well made and in lovely condition. Feminine head, strong muscular neck set well into shoulders, deep chest and ample ribs. Moved soundly with good tail carriage but a bit lethargic on the day

2 Matthews Suford Just Joking

3 Robinson’s Suford Singsong

(O) 10 (4 abs)

1 A lovely class BOB Robinson’s Suford Master Craftsman This dog took my eye from the start of the class. Lovely type in his prime, straight front, tight neat feet, well angulated but without exaggeration, good tail set and carriage and made good use of it on the move. Lovely gleaming condition carrying just the right amount of weight, exuberant personality and moving like a dream.

2 Enticknap’s Moonlight Dancer for Tessera

3 Bellamy’s Bank Bilbo over Bochilbarley

English Setters

1 BP Weller’s Juldeane Pinball Wizard Big rangy dog who looked better stacked than free stood, masculine head without being coarse, dark eyes, reachy neck, level topline when relaxed. Moved ok up and down but not looking so well in profile. Lovely coat coming and well presented.

(G) 2 (0 abs)

1 Foreman’s Somoray Pioneer Handsome headed dog, nicely angulated both ends. Good bone, reachy neck, lovely coat. Moved well with good tail carriage, needs to mature to look his best.

2 Bowen’s Brenholm Morning Sun at Chelmset

(O) 3 (1 abs)

1 BOB Reeves Bournehouse Harvest Gold Loved this mature o/b bitch, nice type, had a real look of quality about her. Looked a picture viewed from any angle. Flowing outline from nose to tail. Feminine pretty head, straight front, neat tight feet, level topline, good width to her quarters and stifles. Lovely tail set & carriage. Moved soundly and in full coat. Well presented and shown, beat another bitch who also appealed.

2 RBOB Weller’s Hannahdene Masquerade at Juldeane

Irish Setters

1 BOB Waddell’s Riqitta Tamarillo. This young bitch appealed immensely. Just right for age. Such a pretty feminine head, dark eyes and melting expression, ears perfectly folded. Good forechest, depth of chest and shoulders. Hind angulation and short hocks enabled her to move well in profile holding her lovely topline but at this tender age she still needs to tighten up when viewed up and down. Despite her youth her type together with a gleaming, richly coloured coat won her the top spot today.

2 Black’s Riqitta Hussard Collonges

(G) 3 (0 abs)

1 Simmonds Bardonhill Sweet Heart These three were hard to separate. 1 won on her breed type. Mature and well bodied for 21 months. Pleasant head with low set ears but would have preferred darker eyes. Straight front, tight elbows, nicely angulated hindquarters and finish over the croup. Nicely set on tail and carried correctly on the move. Sound moving.

2 Gristwood & Philips Morchale Gladerunner

3 Thoburn’s Gwendariff Sparklin Rose for Northridge

(O) 3 (1 abs)

1 Whittington’s Risanda Joker 9 years dog with pleasant long lean head, dark eyes and that oh so appealing greying face. Straight front, nice reach of neck, good width to quarters and well bent stifles. Had a good coat for his age and looked a finished mature dog without being overdone. Moving well with good tail carriage.

2 Thoburn’s Tatterslee Bear Essential at Northridge
