Newark & District Canine Society

Thank you to Ian, Sue and the committee of Newark and a District Canine Society for the invitation to judge Cavaliers at their 75th Anniversary show. The atmosphere was truly wonderful and thank you also to the exhibitors for their support and sportsmanship.

Puppy (4, 1)

1st) Mordecai’s Millhill Adorable, and she is! 8 month old beautifully marked tri bitch at her first show, I understand. Presents such a beautiful outline standing and moving. Gorgeous head and large dark eye, and such a melting expression. Well laid shoulders, good depth to her chest & well sprung ribs. Firm, level topline and tail set bang on and carried happily. Moved soundly fore and aft and so very elegant in profile. Considered her strongly for RBOB/BPIB, just a change of handler in the challenge made her a little unsure. Such a beautiful prospect.

2nd) Tarabad and Whitman’s Khatibi The Queen’s Peach, snazzy ruby bitch of 9 months & so full of herself! Lovely head and eye and a really good expression. Good depth to chest & okay for neck, firm level topline and a happy tail going all the time; which was well set and carried correctly. Another who was accurate fore and aft, and carried herself well in profile. Just thought she could shed a couple of pounds to improve her outline and make her a little more elegant. Perfectly presented and handled.

3rd) Biddle’s Hearthfriend Top Up Your Tan

Junior (5, 2)

1st) Tarabad and Whitman’s Khatibi Royal Male, well marked tri dog of 9 months. Pretty head and expression, good depth to chest & well ribbed back; firm level topline and tail set well, wagging non-stop! Can still settle standing and moving to advantage, but when he got going went with an easy, free stride.

2nd) Kilcoyne’s Granasil Bourbon, ruby dog of 13 months and more mature throughout than the winner. Lovely head, dark large and and flattish skull. Well laid shoulders and good depth to chest, level topline and tail carried happily and correctly. Good colour throughout and well handled, a little wider behind than the winner on the day, but a really lovely prospect and presented in a beautiful silky coat.

3rd) Biddle’s Hearthfriend Rory Red Socks

Post Graduate (3, 1)

1st) Tarabad and Whitman’s Khatibi’s Pistol Knight, the third of three siblings today & three different colours! Well marked blen dog of good rich chestnut colour. Pretty head and large, dark expressive eyes. Good shoulders and okay for neck, firm top line & happily wagging non-stop tail. Makes his handler work as he has a tendency to ‘bunch up’, but when settled goes with a free, easy and sound action. The winner of puppy gave him a run for his money, but he settled better in the challenge and I was pleased to award him RBOB/BPIB and then to watch him go PG2. Very well done! Presented and handled in first class order.

2nd) Dawson’s Luphenex Little Lady Katie, 3.5 yr old tri b; such a pretty head and expression, good neck and shoulder and firm, level topline; good ribbing & short loin. A little closer behind than the winner on the day & not quite the stylishness in profile, but very smart & will have better days. Put down in a jacket of silk and very well handled.

Open (4, 1)

1st) Mordecai’s Millhill Sox Appeal, 21 months or thereabouts & this tri male looks as though he is approaching full maturity. Loved everything about him, fabulous head and eye, well set ears framing his face and almost flat skull; beautiful neck and shoulder adding to his elegance, lovely depth to chest and firm, level topline. Well set tail & gently wagging when standing, all adding to the picture of a masculine dog without any trace of coarseness and a really lovely Cavalier. Beautifully made & it shows when he moves, drives away and returns true in front. Lovely in profile and presented in a fabulous jacket, tan in all the right places & a coat of silk. I loved him & delighted to award him BOB & see him win G4. A dog that could easily carry a crown.

2nd) Tarabad and Whitman’s Denham Over The Moon (IMP USA), I judged this now 7 year old b/t bitch at a club show over three years ago & she seems to have gotten better with age. Lovely head and eye, good cushioning and well set ears framing her face. Lovely reach of neck and good shoulder, correct depth to chest & super ribs. Well made all through and lovely to go over, carried herself so well on the move & came to life, particularly in profile. Raven black coat & contrasting tan in gleaming condition. Just had to give way to the zest of youth today.

3rd) Biddle’s Luphenex Lady In Red
