French Bulldogs

I thoroughly enjoyed this appointment, being my first-time awarding CC’s to the breed. It has been many years since I was actively involved with the breed and there have certainly been some changes through the years. Numbers have most definitely increased, we now see very much more variation in types and because of this you find yourself comprising when judging some classes. However, I was very pleased with both my final line ups and delighted to be able to say that I could find what I was hoping for. Temperaments were exceptional, as you would hope for in this totally charming and fun-loving breed. They all make you smile and endear themselves to you. I was very pleased to find that sportsmanship amongst exhibitors was high with applause after every class, long may this continue. I was also delighted to find that breeders appear to be making huge strides with regards to health and I didn’t have any that gave me the impression of respiratory distress. Excessive roach in topline has never appealed to me anyway, even in my days of campaigning the breed, so I’m delighted that this is being addressed too.

1: WOOLRICH, Mr A D & STATHAM Miss H V Millaven On A Mission At Camdenlee, brindle boy, all male with a very pleasing head and expression. Compact and sturdy, he was the most precise on the move in this class. Decent outline, but I would not like any more roach.

2: TYNAN-JONES Miss C Camdenlee Ace Of Diamonds, liked this fawn boy for shape and type but would perhaps want just a tad more of him all over. Shape is good and he has a correct topline. Moved ok in profile but just threw it away coming towards me on the final run off.
