Kingston Canine Society

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at this special event open show. Thank you to all the exhibitors for entering a small but quality entry in both beagles and borzoi. Also, thanks to the exhibitors for their patience as my husband, Alan, was thrown in a t the deep end having to steward for me having never stewarded before in his life. It was a roasting hot day so thank you to all who came out with their hounds.

Beagle

Special Yearling

1 Donay Fraser BPIB, nice well balanced hound who is true on the move, very clean and maintains a good out. Level top line and stern carried correctly. Good spring of rib and length of coupling. Lovely head which is clearly masculine with no coarseness about it, good dark eye and correctly set leathers.

2 Donay Faith litter sister to 1 and shares many of the same attributes, a little unsettled on the move but still carried off a nice outline, pretty feminine head again with dark eye and correctly set leathers

3 Forgebanks Queen Victoira

Open

1 Forgebanks Perseus BOB A hound of larger mould. A very happy chap who loved his day showing. Balanced with reach and drive on the move and correctly carried stern. Good length of neck in to well laid back shoulders, plenty of bone throughout. A balanced head with a lovely gentle expression.

2 Donay Special Delivery RBOB Very similar to 1 and they share the same sire. Masculine balanced boy with good length of neck, spring of rib and coupling. Level top line and well-proportioned throughout. Pushed hard for this class but on the day was out moved by 1.

3 Kentoast Drake

Borzoi

Open

1 Stonebar Going for Gold with Endevor – A well turned out boy with a beautiful coat. Moved effortlessly but with drive and covered the ground well. Correct top line and tail carriage, good deep chest, tight elbows and good hind quarters. Beautiful head with good veining, small delicate ears correctly set. Pleased to award him BOB.

2 Dolsaca Macchiato – Smaller mould than one and finer in bone. Correct tail carriage and top line, moved nicely while maintaining a good outline. Good head with nice clean lines. Preferred the movement of 1 on the day.
