What a super day surrounded by all of your sweet natured Mastiffs. Thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge their well run show, and thanks also to my able stewards George and Bill. A big thank you for your entries and good sportsmanship. Unfortunately my bag was too small to sneak a dog home unnoticed.

CLASS 1 VETERAN DOG (2) 1. Millers Quatermain of Cheese Hill with Brindaree (Imp) Dark brindle, 7 year old boy, having a typical broad head and good ear set with small dark eyes and a kind expression. His body is well filled with a muscular neck, correct shoulders and deep in brisket. His strong topline, good croup and length of tail made a pleasing profile. Moved gently around the ring.

CLASS 2 MINOR PUPPY DOG (0)

CLASS 3 PUPPY DOG (1/1)

CLASS 4 JUNIOR DOG (3/1) 1. Murrays Keith The First. Dark apricot brindle of 15 months presented in gleaming condition. Beautiful expression, good mouth with correctly proportioned short foreface on broad skull, good stop and wide nostrils. Well filled front, straight bone and good slope of shoulder. Substantial body with level topline. Could have moved with more drive. 2. Gittins Nimrod of Seven Oaks at Cwmtysswg (Imp Deu). Another quality dog, fawn of 14 months, his strong crested neck supporting a broad and deep head with well used ears. Plenty of body with good topline, croup and tail set, and the happiest disposition.

CLASS 5 NOVICE DOG (1) 1. Hazelwoods Craiglestone Sir Eli Sabeth. 2 year old brindle boy with slightly domed broad skull, proportionate breadth of foreface, wide nostrils and expressive brow. Correct mouth with truncated muzzle. Good height, having a long muscular neck. Forechest and torso could have more substance, but stood well, and moved around the ring steadily and smoothly with drive.

CLASS 6 POST GRADUATE DOG (3/1) 1. Andrews Cyberus Zavier. 13 month fawn boy with dark mask and ears. Tight eyes, good mouth and a nicely proportioned head supported by his good strong neck. Well filled front and strong straight bone on forelegs, with neat tight feet. Good angulation and balanced in profile, having depth and body. Powered around the ring with a good strong topline and well set tail flowing behind. 2. Millers Hallberd Dennis the Menace of Brindaree. A 4 year old dark brindle boy. Not as sure of himself as 1st but, kind, alert expression, lovey tight feet and presented in great condition. Another lovely boy to go over and plenty to like.

CLASS 7 LIMIT DOG ((2) 1. Zadehs Mykola. Excellent handling of this fawn 2 year old boy. Not as tall as 2nd but super flat head and expression. Broad well filled front with plenty of substance throughout. Stood himself correctly and moved out at speed with good extension, driven by his powerful second thigh and holding a strong topline. Could have used an inch or so more height but very pleasing overall. 2. Hazelwoods Craiglestone Sir Rumpletum. 2.5 year old dark kind eyed, dark brindle boy. Good height and proportionate length of torso. Good lay of shoulder, nothing overdone, Good depth of brisket and sprung ribs with elbows tucked under. A lot to like and moved out well.

CLASS 8 OPEN DOG (5/1) 1. Chambers Elljayart The Great Master of Gigantiffz. Just what I was looking for, this fawn 2 year old dark masked and pigmented boy ticked all of my boxes, with his size and substance. His super expressive breed standard head, having correct dentition and so much more. Pleasing from all angles and didn’t disappoint on the move as he motored around the ring driving off from his developed hind quarters. I see he went RCC at Crufts earlier this year which is no surprise. Pleased to award him BD & BIS. 2. Baxters Nobleheart Roaring Roy a fawn lad that I went over a few years ago and has come on nicely. Stood confidently, enthusiastic demeanor and masculine head, a dark kind eye and slightly undershot dentition. Well set and used ears with wrinkled brow producing interested, keen expression. Super filled body just a tad shorter than 1st. Moved so well and very pleasing overall to gain RBD 3. Burgoines Ch Hallberd Finbar

CLASS 9 VETERAN BITCH (1) 1. Hills Ch Fragilis Fausta. I felt like the Queen had entered the ring. Majesty and presence surrounded this 8 year old fawn Nanna. Totally enchanting and, although senior now in body, still carries herself as the Champion she is. And she can still move. Thank you Mr Hill for bringing her under me BVIS

CLASS 10 MINOR PUPPY BITCH (0)

CLASS 11 PUPPY BITCH (2/1) 1. Hardings Nordic Mastiffs Regal Queen of Wisdom in The Stars avec Mulaloo 11 month fawn girl with everything to like. Her head is coming on nicely and she exudes confidence. She has a balanced body shape and looks good from all angles. Good slope on her shoulder, good mouth, good topline. Everything where it should be at this stage and moved well. BPIS

CLASS 12 JUNIOR BITCH (4/1) 1. Hills Miss Fragilis From The Celtic Mountain. Brindle girl of 14 months who stands herself four square and moves true coming and going. Built correctly with a strong head on muscled neck, her shoulders gently laid back into sturdy top line and developed hind quarters. No wonder she can move. 2. Clarkes Cyberus Macaria. At just over a year old this brindle girl is developing well. Her head is nicely proportioned with tight eyes and expression. A very happy personality with lots to like. Moved well. 3. Bowderys Morganlefay Sentinelese

CLASS 13 NOVICE BTCH (3/1) 1. Crumps Askuwheteau Eva silver brindle15 month, good sized bitch. Good head and expression using her well set ears. Tight feet on strong legs, pleasing in profile with well held topline. Steady on the move. 2. Bowderys Morganlefay Suri. Litter sister to 3rd in the Junior class but having a totally different appearance. This apricot girl has a more profuse coat and is longer in foreface. Not as tall as 1st in this class but moved out with drive.

CLASS 14 POST GRADUATE BITCH (6/5) 1. Such a shame that there were 5 absent but Andrews Cyberus Erinyes who I see went RBCC & BPIB at Crufts this year certainly made up for it. When you view the image on the RKC breed standard, this fawn dark masked and pigmented girl, litter sister to 2nd in Junior, is an exact feminine version. Lovely in the stand and moved smoothly and briskly with such energy, extending her gait as she covered the ground. One to watch for sure. RBB

CLASS 15 LIMIT BITCH (5/3) 1. Andrews Sculpted by Nature at Elljayart. Just when I thought we may have peaked this naughty but very nice gleaming 15 month apricot brindle entered the ring. Did she fidget, did she gallop on the move, was she personality plus. I loved her well formed head, inquisitive wrinkle on the brow and soft eyes. Her ears tipped forward producing a wide level top skull. On the third circuit of the ring I was able to assess her movement as semi smooth, sound and exuberant. So much to like and sharing her sire with the PGB, just pipped her to BB, RBIS & BOS 2. Hills Karysmhor Flanders for Fragilis. Fawn 2 year old shorter in height than 1st with a smaller headpiece. Tight eyes and smart head. Fit and muscular throughout enabling the best movement and superior extension. Another quality Mastiff.

CLASS 16 OPEN BITCH (4/3) 1. Hallberd Georgia. 18 moth old fawn girl just lacking in confidence which I’m sure she will gain the more she is shown. She allowed me to go over her and settled after a short while. Toes a little ten to two but a super head and expression. Lots to like.
