West Lothian Canine Society

I thoroughly enjoyed my day judging the toys at this show, thanks to the exhibitors for bringing such lovely dogs. Thanks also to the committee for the invitation and not forgetting my able steward Jenny who kept the ring running smoothly and efficiently.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Open (6,2a)1. Byers’ Bonniemadra Ricochet to Linetive. This well broken five year old tricolour dog has such a lovely soft gentle expression; he has high set ears, an almost flat skull, dark eyes and black pigment. He moved soundly and his tail never stopped wagging, a typical Cavalier. BOB 2. Maxwell’s Eildon Dream Elsa. This black and tan bitch’s coat gleamed and she had rich tan in all the correct places, nicely balanced and with correct neck and shoulders and she moved soundly. 3. Fraser’s Bracken Gold at Fraskye

Pomeranians Graduate (7,2a) 1. Nixon’s Kazpom Don’t Let Go JW I loved the shape and outline of this young orange dog who had small neat ears, dark black pigment, scissor bite and a foxy expression. He is short coupled, moved briskly and soundly showing off his high set tail which he carried flat over his back. BOB 2. Black’s Young and Smart Tai Laurasat Zaandam (imp LTU) This orange dog was only 6 months old and so did not have the maturity of 1st, but he had dark eyes, black pigment and the correct expression. He was short coupled and moved soundly. 3. Black’s Verona Tai Lauras to Zaandam (Imp LTU)

Open (6,0a) 1. McDowall’s Ch Altinas Tudor Rose. This was a mature 5 year old orange bitch who was full of breed type and was expertly presented. She had a lovely head and expression, dark eyes, scissor bite and correct muzzle. She is short coupled with a lovely tail set and carriage. 2. Black’s Zaandam Thunder of Taurus Well constructed two year old dog with small erect ears, dark eyes and pigment; he moved briskly and soundly around the ring. 3. Black’s Zaandam Gift of Gemini

Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) Open (2,0a) These were litter sisters, just 6 months old at their first show 1. Black’s Roovena Pumpkin Patch This chocolate, white and tan bitch was not too happy on the table but when she settled I was able to see that she had the correct apple domed skull, flaring ears and scissor bite. She was well constructed and kept a level topline on the move. BOB 2. Black’s Roovena Spellbound. A black & tan bitch, again a bit hesitant but promising, I preferred the movement of her sister.

Chihuahua (Long Coat) Open (8,0a) 1. Russell & Black’s Chiroux Sunny Disposition. Nicely balanced chocolate and white bitch in full coat, she had a pleasing head with rounded skull and moderately short muzzle and moved soundly around the ring keeping a level topline. BOB 2. Hunter’s Jotolemar Ellie’ Time JW I loved this 2 year old bitch and thought she would be my winner but she refused to co-operate on the table. She has a lovely head with dark eyes and pigment, correct expression and she moved soundly. 3. Logans Xamarin Leo Valentina Logiestar.

Pug Open (4,0a) 1. Ferguson’s Ch Rhodenash Dream Date with Tartanmops SHCEX Mature fawn dog with a masculine head, good wrinkle, dark round expressive eyes, velvet like ears and large open nostrils. He had a straight front, compact body with well sprung ribs and good turn of stifle. BOB and G2 2. Cockburn’s Honeypot Ebony April Girl. Black bitch with dark eyes, strong thick neck and well sprung ribs; She moved well but I would prefer more clearly defined wrinkle 3. Mccahill’s Zobear Bumble Bear at Drachenfel (NAF)

English Toy Terrier 1. Inch’s Edalene Upside Down JW 19 month old dog who looks good in profile and who moved with an extended trot; wedge shaped head, dark almond eyes, straight front and good angulation at the rear. BOB 2. Imrie’s Amalric Butch Cassidy Another young dog, just 15 months old who was close up to 1st but lost out on maturity; he had a wedge shaped head, dark eyes and high set ears. He was soundly made with arched neck, correct topline and good turn of stifle. 3. Inch’s Edalene Court and Spark JW

Chinese Crested Graduate (1,0a) 1. Moyes, Hunter-Ryan, Shaw & Virta’s Bryelis The Star Man. A 10 month old powder puff with elongated skull, dark eyes and pigment, large erect ears, chiselled cheeks and scissor bite; he moved soundly keeping a level topline

Open (2,0a) 1. Frame’s Ch Myvallo Inclined to Dance at Elfallons. It was difficult to believe that this bitch  was 9 years old, she was in such fabulous condition. She looks good in profile with a typical head, long graceful neck, level topline, rounded rump and she moved elegantly and with drive. BOB 2. Moyes, Hunter-Ryan, Shaw & Punton’s Bryelis Oh I Wannabe Famous. Just 11 months old and a little apprehensive on the table, but she had a long and flowing crest, good neck and shoulders and moved well.

Papillon Open (6, 1a) The first two were both quality dogs and I’m sure will change places on another day 1. Watson’s Asan Mersana (Imp POL) IR JUN CH, CJW’23 I liked the size and type of this two year old tricolour dog who had an abundance of coat, large flaring ears, dark eyes and pigment. He moved freely and confidently keeping a level topline on the move. BOB 2. Harvie’s Afterglow Barbie Doll with Penchrystona Red and white, good for type, large well placed ears, rounded skull, pointed muzzle, hare feet; a nice dog, just not as finished as first. 3. Cheshire’s Papiholm’s Laird’s Laddie

AV Toy NSC Open (13,5a) - a lovely class 1. Roberts’ Shawhills Paws for Thought (Yorkshire Terrier) Lovely steel blue and tan coat on this quality bitch who was well constructed enabling her to move freely keeping a level top line. She was compact and neat, had dark sparkling eyes, dark pigment and a scissor bite. BOB, TG1 and I was delighted to hear that she took RBIS 2. Martin’s Cranvarl the Student Prince (Japanese Chin) Well presented black & white dog in good coat and so enthusiastic and full of character; he has an attractive head with short cushioned muzzle, dark eyes and pigment. 3. Gunn’s Newtonwood Crazy for Love to Harvahope (Havanese)

AV Toy Import Breed Register Open (9.3a) – all Russian Toys 1. Graham’s Amber Delis Coorie Doon at Koorimob NAF Long haired black & tan bitch with large fringed ears, dark eyes, black nose and slightly rounded skull. She was squarely built, had fine bone and a long neck. BIR 2. Slack’s Grande Misterio Incanto Heaven Eversbabes (Imp LVA) Another B/T long coat but this time a dog and with rich tan; he was slightly longer in body but with an attractive expression. 3. Graham’s Grande Misterio Gunnedah at Koorimob

AV Toy Puppy (20,4a) 1. Moyes, Hunter-Ryan, Shaw & Virta’s Bryelis The Star Man (see Chinese Crested graduate) 2. Imrie’s Amalric Mandisa Iddy (ETT) A smart eight month old bitch in glossy coat with a wedge shaped head, straight front, correct top line and she moved out well 3.Russell’s Chirouxe Little Things NAF ( L/C Chihuahua)

AV Toy Veteran (9,1a) 1. Gunn’s Dianaia’s Beautiful Day (Havanese) What a lovely picture this 7 year old gold sable bitch made; she had the correct body proportions being slightly longer than high and was in profuse coat which was presented to perfection. She had dark oval eyes and pigment and a soft gentle expression. 2. Frames’ Ch Myvallo Inclined to Dance at Elfallons (see Chinese Crested Open) 3. Black’s Zaandam Russian Apprentice (Pom)
