Smooth Collie Club Of Great Britain
Many thanks to the Secretary and her committee for this lovely invitation to judge Smooth Collies at your sub-group open show, you even ordered amazing weather and there was, without doubt, a lovely ‘garden party’ atmosphere to the day, extended thanks to my 2 stewards Claire and Penny who kept the ring running so smoothly and efficiently.

1. Howard/Fort’s Shulune Imperial Inkheart with Casatentola. Blue merle of just 6 months, wedge shaped head with flat skull, well tipped ears, strong neck and good shoulder placement, nice depth of chest, well ribbed back with short loin, good proportions, a little heavily marked in places, moved out well with a smooth, ground covering gait.
2. Burton’s Glencorrie Tyke Vincent. Sable/white of 7 months, masculine head and expression, flat skull, would have liked better tipped ears but he had a strong neck with well placed shoulders, oval feet and good bone, well presented but just not quite as clean in movement as class winner.

1. Martin’s Sturtmoor Arceus’s Legacy. Sable/white of 10 months, top size, good wedge shaped head, good ears and eye, flat skull, straight legs with good feet and bone, strong neck and shoulders, good depth, shape and length of rib, moved well when settled into his stride although he did tend to ‘pace’ on occasions, harsh coat, well presented and handled, BPD, BP & BPIS.
2. Acford’s Coneypark Mattie Brown. Sable/white of 9 months who didn’t have the outline and substance of 1, good shape of head with flat skull although not quite the masculinity of 1, correct bone and feet, preferred the overall angulation of 1st and today this dog lacked a little condition.
3. Metcalf’s Koczkodan Well I Never.

1. Martin’s Sturtmoor Arceus’s Legacy. Repeat.
2. Howe’s Lizoni The Drifter. Tricolour of 16 months, he had a wedge shaped head with well tipped ears but felt his eye could have been slightly larger, he had sound proportions with good depth to his chest, his rib was well sprung and was of good length, strong loin, moved out easily when he settled into his stride but today I felt another who lacked a little condition.
3. Acford’s Coneypark Mattie Brown.

1. Martin’s Sturtmoor Arceus’s Legacy. Repeat.
2. Riva’s Manordeifi Rock On. 3½ year old sable/white who looked well on the stand, he had a masculine head but was reluctant to use his ears which spoilt his expression overall, oval feet and good bone, would have liked a better elbow placement which would have improved his movement, good proportions and he was shown in lovely condition.

1. Sewell’s Wynele Strike It Rich to Lewarne JW. Quality tricolour of 18 months, lovely wedge shaped head with dark expressive eye, correct feet and good bone, muscular neck leading into a good shoulder placement, he had lovely body proportions, he was well marked and moved out with a smooth, long reaching stride, sound in top-line, lovely harsh coat, he was well muscled and fit, RBD.

OD 2(1)
1. French’s Wynele Dressed To Thrill at Breckamore. Another quality tricolour of 2½ years, he had a lovely masculine expressive head with well tipped ears and the correct wedge shaped head, strong muzzle and underjaw, good head planes, muscular neck leading into a pleasing well set shoulder, straight legs with correct bone and feet, liked his angulation front and rear, he was sound and well balanced all through, lovely harsh coat with dense undercoat, presented in immaculate condition, he moved easily covering the ground effortlessly, BD, RBOB & RBIS.

1. Smith’s Ch/Multi Ch. Winter Is Coming to Tentola. Lovely blue merle of nearly 8 years, masculine head with good ears although they could have been better ‘tipped’, strong muzzle with good head planes, strong neck leading into a good shoulder placement, correct feet and bone, sound in top-line, well angulated all through and nicely marked, good tail carriage, he moved well when settled but unfortunately wasn’t sound in the challenge for BV, BVD.
2. Moores’ Manordeifi Bow Regard. Sable/white of 8 years, balanced head with almond eye, good head planes and well tipped ears, straight legs with oval feet and good bone, liked his proportions and balanced outline, just preferred the overall angulation of 1, he moved out well with an easy stride and was presented in fit condition.
3. Trundley’s Ch. Blamorder Back To The Future.

1. Shorten’s Glencorrie Stella Bark at Bracoisla. Sweet, feminine sable/white of 7 months with lovely eye and erect ears where I would have liked more of a tip, wedge shaped head with good head planes and flat skull, good neck with pleasing shoulder placement, liked her proportions and balance, sound in top-line, she moved out cleanly and steadily with effective reach and drive, she just needs to develop and mature but promising, BPB & Best MP.
2. Cole/Fort’s Shulune Imperial Rum Punch. It was playtime for this young tricolour lady of just 6 months, which certainly isn’t a criticism, she had a lovely feminine head with dark brown eye but could have used her ears better, good proportions and nicely angulated, croup could be better, she was quite erratic on the move today but I saw some sound profile movement once she settled, presented in good coat.
